Mad Science, final class, August 21st

Yet again, the Mad Science students were told to meet for class at the Danger Shop. This time, Prof Tomoe met them outside of the building and stood outside the door. His grin was eviller than usual this week.

"Good afternoon, class. It seems as though we've come to the end of our semester already. I hope that you've been paying attention in class, as this week's final exam is a practical test. Inside the building, you will find a victim. Your job is to put the plan you designed into action, and have your monster rip out their pure heart crystal to check whether or not it is a Talisman before you are defeated. And yes, your daimon will most likely be destroyed over the course of the exam. If you can go, let's say, five solid minutes before being defeated, we'll consider that a pass."

He laughed evilly before stepping away from the door to let the students in one at a time. "Good luck."

The girl looked hopefully towards Edward before being caught off guard. She screamed as her pure heart crystal was removed before falling to the ground in a heap.

The figure leaped off the building to take a closer look at the crystal, revealing herself to be a green-haired girl in a short sailor uniform. She gave the crystal a look over before turning to look at the other two standing there.

"That wasn't very nice," she said, focusing all of her attention on the daimon.

Edward took a quick peek at the crystal. Didn't look like a talisman, and he didn't have time to pore over it. He pushed past the interloper, putting on an air of righteous fury. "You cannot take that from her."

"Oh, I wouldn't dream of it," he girl said politely but coldly. She bent down to touch the crystal and push it back into where it belonged. "I don't need to bother with any pure heart crystals that aren't talismans."

She stood back up, and moved next to Edward to face the daimon. "But I won't let the monster to run free and attack other people as well. I have other things to do tonight."

The daimon looked at the girl, confident and cocky, but when Edward made no move to help her, she shot him a fearful look.

Edward gave her a cold smile that the girl wouldn't see, then sternly replied "Do you want to take care of it, or shall I?"

The girl in the sailor uniform shook her head. "Thank you, but I can manage on my own."

She raised her hands over her head, yelled out "Deep Submerge! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLlZ-fvO4VU)", and fired a ball of powerful water energy directly at the daimon.

The daimon shrieked as the attack headed toward her, and shuddered as it hit and destroyed her.

Edward let out a low whistle. That was an attack. "You certainly can manage on your own." He turned to go. "Good luck with that!"

The girl gave Edward a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.

"Thank you, I will," she said. "You should be careful. There might be more of those out there."

And with that she walked off into the holographic streets of the Danger Shop.

Edward clapped his hands together and held them, looking finished. "I accomplished what we set out to do. The daimon was destroyed, but I still didn't get defeated, did I?"

Prof Tomoe wandered into the Danger Shop and looked over his clipboard full of notes.

"You destroyed the daimon, but you managed to remove the pure heart crystal and conceal your true identity from the enemy. I would most definitely consider that a pass."

Edward grinned. "Right! Let me know if you need this practically applied, Professor."

Had Edward been waiting for a chance to be a supervillain? Perish the thought...

A bright red grin spread across Prof Tomoe's face.

"Oh, certainly. I would hate to squash a student's desire to apply what they've learned in class in a practical way."
