Pie for Beginners - Monday August 20th

There was a handwavey notification sent to everyone in class, to meet outside at the campfire area and to wear clothes they don’t mind getting messy. Yondaime had said there was going to be a pie fight, and he’d be damned if he wasn’t going to let that happen.

When the students arrived, Yondaime was sitting on the ground, surrounded by whipped cream pies and a huge grin on his face. “Good Morning! I’m sorry about last week, but I got kind of sick. This is our last class together, and if you’ve been paying attention to the syllabus, you know that we’re having a pie fight today, filled with good, clean, old-fashioned fun. You’ve all been a fantastic class; it’s amazing how fast 7 weeks have flown by, I just with that we could have had more time.”

“Anyway, this is no holds barred fight. The only thing I ask is that if you have any ultra powers, is not to use them, small powers are okay though,” he smiled and spun the pie on his finger. If there aren’t any questions then the pies are all yours!” Yondaime grinned and quickly got out of the way, so as not to be trampled by students going for pies.

Anne, as it happened, had been too busy looking cautiously up into the trees for any signs of squirrels to even realize what was going on.

Which was to say, she was the unwitting and spluttering recipient of a lemon meringue pie directly to the face.

Evie peeked over the table, looking repentant. "Um, sorry?"

Anne blinked lemon meringue out of her eyes. "That may be the most literal 'sweet surprise' I have ever experienced in my life."

"At least it's yummy?" Evie offered, looking apologetic. "And, um, likely to wash off easily." She pointed at the other pies. "And look! You can pass the surprise along!"

"Oh, I don't know if I could," faltered Anne. If ever she were to do such an indistinguished thing as flailing, she was certainly doing so now, meringue and all. "I couldn't throw food at people -- it would be such an egregious misdirection of decadence!"

"Perhaps you're right," Evie said, picking up a strawberry cream pie. "We *could* just eat them--"

Then she gave in to temptation and threw the pie at someone else's head again. "Or not!"
