There's a roof, yes. What there isn't -- or at least what's chugging along in the basement trying to start, and hasn't reached most of the areas still under construction -- is air conditioning.

"Your mission, should you choose to accept it, and I think you will, is to go through all the floors and get the AC ducts open," Xander tells the graduate workers. "The sooner it's done, the sooner you don't have to actually swim through the halls. At least until the next flood."

"It's asinine," Isabel said. "Like we're not capable of making sure we get enough sleep? That woman's just grasping at any little bit of control she can get. But I think she can keep grasping because she's not going to get any."

Xander gave an unhappy shrug. "It's not like the principal can't say students have to sleep in the dorms or whatever. They just never did did before, except when there was badness on the loose."

"I did my part last night. Tomorrow I head back to Roswell," Isabel said. "I'm not sure if I'll be back."

"Harris, I don't suppose there's any way we can wall up the principal in there by accident, is there?"

"Yeah no, not advocating putting a demon hit out on the new principal," Xander said. "Maybe the Skeeter route though? I seem to have no moral qualms with blackmail or driving her crazy."

Anders's shoulders sagged a little bit as he relented, though he still looked a little mutinous. "Bridge'd kick my ass for thinking about it, anyway," he admitted grudgingly. "But I think she's already crazy, and something's gotta be done about her. If she was just irritating and putting out stupid rules nobody takes seriously, I wouldn't care as much, but she's going too frakking far."

"Using magic on students," Anders replied heatedly. "Something that forced Casablancas to hop around like a bunny, I guess for talking about her on the radio. And Annette got hit with a spell that made her dance uncontrollably, for offering to take Dick's punishment for him. And then yesterday I guess she didn't like what Phoebe had to say, since she cast a frakking silence spell on her. There's probably more, I bet . . . she's been calling a bunch of people into her office every day."

Xander would be more worried about the 'dance uncontrollably' part if Certain Things had happened in his timeline - but the whole thing still made him frown. "Sounds a bit nastier than Skeeter."
