Dale has set up the main campire area to actually be... lots of little campfire areas.

There's also a heap of ~~moddable~~ food and cooking equipment sitting on the picnic tables.

"Today kids we are going to be making ourselves some dinner," Dale said with a grin. "But you are going to have to work for it."

He pointed to the fire rings around them. "You're going to cook over an open fire. A fire that you have to start without any matches, lighters, spells or what not. So come on kids! Let's see what you got!"

In a series of yips and barks, Dean detailed his stealing and shooting of kitten plates as an act of protest against tyranny.

Of course since he was a wolf, it was debatable how much of that actually got across.

Dale studied the wolf for a second and then raised an eyebrow. It appeared to be communicating and yet...

"What's that boy?" Dale asked the wolf "Did the mountie fall down a well?"

Dean facepalmed. Or facepawed, as the case may be.

He shook his head and tried to explain again, wondering how a mountie had got involved in all of this.

Dale watched what he assumed to be a negative and almost human reaction from the wolf.

Or at least it he assumed it was a human reaction. He had heard enough on the radio to know that people occasionally turned into animals around here.

"Perhaps we should try a different manner of communication," Dale suggested. "One bark will mean yes and two barks will mean no. Does that make sense?"

Dean barked once. This was so embarrassing.

"Excellent," Dale said while checking the roster and comparing who was there and who wasn't. "And I assume you are student? Perhaps Dean Winchester?"

Dean barked once again, sitting up a little straighter, tail wagging a little at being recognised.

"I see. Now Dean, did you turn yourself into a wolf?" Dale asked.

Dean gave an emphatic two sharp barks, while shaking his head almost violently.

"I see," Dale said nodding. "Was this an accident? Or something you wanted to happen?"

Another two barks and negative headshake.

Dale frowned. "Was this an intentional act by another person?"

Dean gave a single loud emphatic bark.

Dale's posture stiffened slightly and his frown of displeasure grew even more.

"Mr. Winchester, would you be willing to take me to the culprit responsible for your transfiguration after class?"

Dean thought about it for a moment; he had no idea how Mr. Cooper felt about Umbridge, but it would probably annoy Umbridge to have someone looking into his punishment. And he doubted she'd try this kind of thing with a teacher.

He nodded and gave an affirmative bark.

Dale gave Dean his trademark thumbs up of acknowledgement though it lacked his traditional grin.

"Excellent, Mr. Winchester. I'll see you after class."
