Construction Site: Thursday August 2nd, all day

The "Safety First" signs are still around - in fact, Xander's added one on neon green posterboard. It doesn't have the Mr Harris says part, though.

In the background, the heavy construction guys are putting some of the finishing touches on the supporting walls - it really is looking like a school again, with just smaller room divisions and cosmetic things like... well, doors and windows for a start, for the graduate workers to attend to.

"Today we're hanging doors, guys. Not people named Door though. For the record, in case there's any squirrels listening. Just the kind with hinges and knobs."

If any of that staring happened to be in Xander's direction, there would be glaring from *Bridge's* direction.

Andrew definitely noticed the glare from Bridge, and tried to be much more careful about where his eyes wandered.

Bridge nods approvingly at that, though if he had a Sharpie on him he might be tempted to write something on Xander's forehead. Eventually he actually wanders over to where Andrew is standing.

"Hey," he says conversationally.

Andrew is easily intimidated by glaring. He glances at Bridge but doesn't make anything close to eye contact, instead focusing on a rather not interesting pile of construction material.

"Hello."

"Bridge Carson," Bridge says, sticking out one gloved hand.

Andrew cleared his throat, still only glancing at Bridge as he took his hand.

"Andrew Wells. Very nice to meet you," he said, clipping his words.

"Andrew?" Bridge blinks. "Oh, hey, *that* Andrew. Hi."

Andrew was totally looking at him now. "Um, that Andrew? Are you from Sunnydale, like the future of?"

"Um," Bridge says. "I'm from *the* future, but not Sunnydale's future. As far as we can figure, it's a totally different timeline. Some basic similarities but some very big differences. Xander's, um. Mentioned you. Once or twice."

"He has?" Andrew asked, a little more excitement in his voice than he probably should have allowed.

"Did he say, um, good things about me?"

Bridge shrugs, trying not to frown at the excitement. "Well, nothing *bad*... exactly." Which was sort of the truth. If you squint and ignore the time he'd used the phrase "wannabe supervillan".

"Ah, that Andrew," he mumbled aloud, looking at his feet.

Wanting to change the conversation quickly, he asked, "So have you seen The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies? It's playing in town."

Bridge is no stranger to the abrupt subject change, seeing as he frequently used it himself. "Nope," he says cheerfully. "Have you? Is it any good?"

"Oh, it's great! I love zombie movies -- like ALL zombie movies. The more unrealistic the brain eating, the better. This one is classic bad. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend checking it out." Andrew nodded.

"So do you use tools and stuff?"

"That sounds pretty cool, I'm totally going to do that." Bridge says with a bounce, sort of getting caught up in Andrew's enthusiasm. "I do! But, uh. I'm more into mechanics and electronics than construction. That's Xander's thing. Um, obviously."

"Right! I mean, I don't know Xander, but he seems to be all good with wood and such."

Andrew paused.

"Well, I know who he is, obviously. We went to the same school and all, but I wasn't exactly someone he would have bothered speaking to. Me being all younger and generally stuff in a locker."

Bridge isn't quite sure what to say to that, since it's not like Xander escaped high school entirely stuffed-in-a-locker free. "Well. He does end up kind of working with you later, so clearly you *are* someone worth speaking to!"

Andrew beamed, his cheeks turning a light shade of red.

Ducking his head a little, he asks, "So electronics, huh? Are we talking 'look ma', I built a built a crystal radio' kind of electronics, or the 'my parent's basement is and whirling, humming, and little blinking light haven of partially built human automatons' kind of electronics?"

"Well, I started out with the first thing but these days I'm more about the second," Bridge bounces excitedly. "I've even upgraded RIC, which was one of the more difficult projects, because I did it *here*, and he's from my time like me, so I had to improvise a lot."

Andrew was very impressed. "So you can build like real live robots? Do they talk? Can they dance? Cause how cool would it be to have a troop of dancing robots!"

He had to pause and think about that.

"Who is Rick and what did he need upgraded?"

"RIC's my dog. Well, he's a robot dog, to be exact, and he doesn't dance but he does talk but not apparently in Dog. It's a bug that I haven't been able to fix, no matter how I try. He can speak just about any other animal language though."

"You have a robot dog?" Andrew was so jealous. "Is that something everyone has in the future? I was so born in the wrong century."

He shook his head.

"If you could live in any time period, ever, which one would you choose and why? I'm so all about living in the future. I used to think it would be cool to be all medieval knights and stuff, but if I'm being honest with myself, horses scare me. That kind of kills the dream."

"He's technically SPD property but yeah, he's pretty much mine," Bridge says. "You should meet him! And if it's any consolation I'm really only from about fifteen years in the future."

He has to think about this. "Does it have to be a time period on Earth? I mean, could it be the past, but some other planet's past?"

Andrew shrugged. "I guess it can be any time or place or dimension you have knowledge of. Do you have some otherworldly friend with a fantastic past? Are they here at Fandom?"

Then he asked, "So in fifteen years I can get a robotic dog?"

Andrew really liked the idea of having a pet that couldn't be eaten by a wayward demon.

"Well, there's lots of different inhabited planets in my time," Bridge says. "I mean, it'd be kind of cool to see KO-35 before it got all destroyed and stuff." He pauses. "It's entirely possible, if your dimension's technology advances at the same rate that mine did. You might have to join SPD though."
