Announcements [Friday]

Once again, sometime during the mid morning hours, a bright and saccharine sweet voice blasts from the speakers.

"Good morning dear children and faculty members," Umbridge's voice said. "I trust we all were in bed at a decent time last night and we are all now awake, alert and ready to learn."

She'd heard radio. She knew what the students had been up to.

"I'd like to start off with a few of my own announcements. First, any person caught listening to any of Hermione Granger's lies will be punished immediately. The poor dear suffered some trauma in the past and hasn't been quite right since. We should all pull together to try and help her heal, the poor dear sweet child."

She didn't mean one word of that.

Umbridge could be heard sighing sadly over the speakers. And then the happy voice was back. "Second, any person, student or staff member, caught mocking, insulting, and otherwise talking back to me or saying anything against me will be punished with a detention. Respect isn't so much to ask, is it?"

There was laughter now, short and crisp. "This has been your Headmaster and I do hope you all have a pleasant day."

[Feel free to react!]

Hermione stared in shock for a moment, absolutely fuming. Did she seriously think she could slander her and have people believe it when they figured out for themselves what she was like?

The fuming stopped about the time Hermione realized Umbridge must have thought people would actually listen to her. Well, she'd just have to be a little more creative. Not that that was ever a problem.

Luke let out a derisive little snort. "Yeah, I'll definitely be doing that," he said, rolling his eyes.

Naturally, Seely immediately started thinking up insulting nicknames to use on the radio.

"Oh nothing like issuing a challenge," Isabel muttered. This was going to be interesting.

Wilson quirked an eyebrow.

"Detention? For teachers? Yeaah, I want to see that one stick."

"Bring it," Eve grumbled under her breath. "Just... bring it."

Andrew frowned at the radio. He hoped this Hermione girl wasn't suffering terribly, but he made a mental note to remember not to take anything she said too seriously.

Bel had to wonder if graduates could get detention. He might have to test that.

As far as Sam was concerned, that announcement meant Hermione was probably the person with the best information. He was going to have to remember to talk to her when he had the chance.

"Hermionie is not a liar!" Willow snapped when she heard this. Ooooh, this was worse than Snyder. Something had to be done.

Savannah sighed. "Oh yeah, that's gonna work."

Ah, what an announcement that had been. Deadpool had only one possible answer to it...

"UMBRIDGE SUCKS!"

Ronan rolled his eyes when he heard the announcement. "Because, clearly, these tactics are going to work here." He wondered who was already planning a revolution, and how he could get in on it.

Billy began to chuckle. Then laugh louder. He stopped when he thought he was starting to sound too much like his father. "Yeah right." he said mirthfully.

See, Anders didn't know Hermione so he couldn't really say, but he did think Umbridge had laid it on awfully thick there, so (hey, thanks, Aly's class) he was a little suspicious.

Nobody who talked in that kind of voice could possibly be up to any good, as far as he was concerned.

And, well, the second point just clinched it, really.

"Hey, frak you, lady," he yelled in the direction of the nearest speaker, accompanied by a pretty rude gesture.

Adam did not like that announcement one bit. Something definitely needed to be done and fast.

[identity profile] water-wonder.livejournal.com 2007-07-27 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Tori glared in Umbridge's general direction. "Okay, there is no way that Hermione is a liar."

That was it. Umbridge needed to go.

Sokka snickered. "She's going to punish everyone who mocks her?" he muttered dryly. "Yeah, right!"

[identity profile] morpherboy.livejournal.com 2007-07-28 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Marco blinked up from his comic book. "Hey, my last principal had a mind controlling alien in his head and even he let people insult him without detention!" He paused. "Sort of." Then he realized he was talking to himself and went back to reading.

John looked at the radio and said, "Huh."

Rodney hadn't been paying much attention to the substitute principle since her arrival, but he stopped and listened when she mentioned Hermione. She hadn't struck him as having any form of PTSD (and Rodney tried to pay attention to things like that as he really didn't want to be stuck around any crazy people). In fact, Hermione had seemed rather intelligent and level headed; she'd certainly been effective during dino-research. The fact that she was also pretty really had nothing to do with it.
