John rushed into the Danger Shop with the cart of engines. "Sorry about that," he said. "I got held up at ~~work~~ lunch and didn't get to do what I had planned. So, for today, you should be able to have the engine running without serious problems, and should start thinking about the design. I'd prefer if you went with a four-wheel design with rear engine, but whatever'll cross the finish line. And have a roll cage. And not blow up."

After tinkering a bit with his engine, A.J. had a thought. "You know," he said, to pretty much whoever in the shoppe would listen. "Couldn't we put in an option where we can push a red button and have it explode for the audience in case things get too boring?"

"Uh, no," John said, hiding the shop remote. "That would be bad for the studio audience to see. Unless you're talking about when you actually drive it in the race, which... hey. There's no safety protocols during the race. You wanna go splodey, go 'head. Automatic fail for loss of life or limb," John smirked.

"What? No sympathy points?"

John wiggles his fingers. All ten of them.

"Unless you have a proven way to regrow limbs or some sort of ~~reset save point~~ Get Out Of Death Free card, you're boned," he said with a smile. "I'm sure I'd get a stern letter if I let my students blow crap up when they're not supposed to."

Naomi started working on her engine.

The parts were there to fix the pull cord. As for the rest of the engine...?
