Firearms and You #3 (Thursday, period 2)

As before the class was in the Danger Shop and which was set up in the by now familiar shooting range. The coffee was there on the table by the sign in sheet and another handout.

"Good morning," John said. "Last week, we worked with handguns. This week we're moving on to shotguns. The handout will give you a little of their history and the different types you might want to try.

"One thing in particular about shotguns is the ability they have to use many different kinds of ammunition. For instance, those who took Hunting with me will know that I often use rocksalt rounds against ghosts, but that's just one variation. What I'd like for you to do today is not only try different types of shotguns, but also different types of ammunition.

"As always, I'm here if you have any questions or want advice."

[ooc: wait for ocd's up]

Anders might be starting to turn into a little bit of a geek about this firearms thing, now. It took him a couple of minutes to get the hang of firing the double-barrelled breech-loader (loaded with birdshot, just to keep things simple), but once he'd done that he moved on to try out a Winchester 9410, though he wasn't thrilled with the lever action. Finally he settled on the Winchester 1200 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winchester_1200) (it wasn't that pump action was easier, it just seemed the most efficient) and spent twenty minutes getting comfortable with the gun's action and mechanics using basic buckshot.

That done, he decided to try out a few specialty rounds. Rubber slugs, rock salt (he still didn't get it, but hey), Brenneke slugs (he appreciated the ego boost their improved accuracy gave him), and the Bolo shell (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolo_Shell).

The Bolo shell? Was cool. Kind of scary with the massive potential for mangling and mayhem, but cool.

Setsuna armed herself (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franchi_SPAS-12) tried to make short work of practising with the shot gun, playing around a bit with the different modes, knowing she might actually get use out of the second one.

Charlie was trying the sawed-off shotgun, which was a lot harder to aim, with various forms of ammo: lead, silver, and salt.

You never know, you might get asked along on a ghost hunt some fine day.

Oh, Sokka was definitely going for the awesome gun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winchester_M1887), like in Decimator 2 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103064/). And he tried to cock it by spinning it around, too, just like Schwartzenwhatever.
