Pie for Beginners - Monday 2nd period - Week 3

Class was once again the the Danger Shoppe, but there was no ninja waiting for them there. Instead, there was a slightly hyper actively bouncy mercenary in a chef's hat. And an apron that told people to kiss the cook.

He loved that apron.

"Gooooood morning kiddos! Professor Yondaime has been..." He made a face that clearly showed he had no clue. "...unavoidably detained. So, I will be teaching you all about cream fillings! Won't that be fun?"

He may have been binging on Food Network this past week and now thought he was Julia Child. Minus the hunchback.

In the room there were three tables, each with different ingredients on the for making three different type of pie filling and pre-baked pie crusts for the kids to use.

"We will be making a custard, a standard vanilla cream, and a chocolate mousse with too many vowels and s's in the name. Instructions are on each table!"

[[OOC: Please wait for the OCD is up!]]

Katara eyed the ingredients doubtfully before reaching to carefully read the directions.

Door's experience with cooking things that aren't meat over a campfire is full of such resounding lack of success that really, custard doesn't seem any more challenging than the other choices. You can't get more challenging than 'my baking skills are made of fail.' So she reads the directions carefully, and starts cracking eggs.

It was not the custard itself that threatened to pose problems for Anne, who had after all spent the last four years under Marilla's considerable culinary tutelage, and so she fell to making it with a good will.

It was the electric appliances that threatened to be her Waterloo, and so after several moments of furrowed-brow deliberation, she ignored them altogether and went to work the old fashioned way.

But not for her the pre-made pie crust. Anne turned her nose up daintily at it and proceeded, quite futilely, to look for ingredients to make her own.

Liz was rather hesitant about making a custard but she decided that she could at least try to make it. She looked at the instructions and carefully began making the custard.

Setsuna prefered vanilla cream to the other potential fillings, so she decided to focus on that instead. And was going to try not to cringe too much when it came to the eggs.

Custard. Vanilla Cream. Chocolate Mousse... and the crazy merc-class teacher.

Raph decided on Vanilla Cream because it sounded the least like he'd screw it up. This was also the point he decided to do his best to ignore the other three things in class. Custard was too close to Custer, and that hadn't gone well, and Mousse was way too close to Moose, which was a large smelly... deer? Some kind of cow thing?

And Deadpool was, well Deadpool. Crazy-Mercenary-Kitchen-Hijinks were low on Raph's 'to-do' list...

Right, Vanilla Cream... His logic was flawless, seriously!

Faile picked a table at random and stared at the appliances. She took a deep breath and read the directions carefully before starting.

"Oooooo." Chocolate mousse pie! There is no way Evie's not going to make one of these. "Hi Professor Deadpool! Okay. Blender. Oh, dear..."

Anemone and her notebook made a beeline for the chocolate mousse. She made sure to copy down the recipe, so that she could try it again later.

Will headed over to the chocolate mousse table and started gathering up the ingredients that the recipe specified. It should be to hard to make, she hoped.

Mmm...chocolate...

Seely headed for the chocolate mousse table.

So, Deadpool was substituting for Yondaime-sensei. This....couldn't be good, considering what they'd talked about last night. After class, Setsuna approached Deadpool, head tilted a little as she adked, quietly, "Doing okay?"

She didn't expect much as a response, but she thought maybe if she'd ask, that would at least count for...something, even if it was minuscule.

Anne marched up to the front of the room, too indignant to be at all put off by the hyperactive bouncing of the brightly-clad teacher.

"Mister --" She faltered for a brief moment as she realized she didn't know his name. "Sir, I'd like to object to these pie crusts."

Just be glad I didn't think to have anyone make a pastry cream, that's the devil's work there.

*Snerk*

Now I totally want to see Lucifer making a pastry cream!

...

Come on, you had to know that was coming?

Anne is quite indignant about the pre-made crusts. I'm leaving for work shortly, but when I get back I'd love for her to get snippy at Deadpool about that, if you're willing.
