This morning, Vala was clutching a cup of coffee like it was a lifeline. More coffee and an assortment of danishes were also set out. Students would probably notice the stitched scar on her face, as well as the one on her arm. Both were dinosaur-inflicted, but she wasn't overly bothered by them.

"Good morning," she yawned and gave a listless wave, "Today we'll be discussing the opposite sex. Which, since this is the title of the class, you can't say is a big surprise."

"Before we can develop a plan of attack and help you get over the stark terror of stepping into the dating pool, I'd like you to make a list of what scares you, confuses you, or annoys you about the opposite sex. Then I would like you to pair up--with someone of the opposite sex--and trade lists. Hopefully a lively discussion will ensue. Try to help them understand the differences, if you can."

Another yawn. "Please hand in all lists at the end of the discussion to either myself or Jack, so that we can decide how to better structure the class for the rest of the summer."

[ooc: Posted extremely early because I will be AFK until Friday night, EDT. Obviously, there will be SP. And possibly Jack-pinging. Not dirty. ~~I think~~]

"I missed last week," he offered sheepishly. "My girlfriend told you? I was, uh, a cat. At the time."

"Oh, yes, of course!" Vala remembered, "You're Rikku's friend. Welcome to class! Are you feeling better?"

"Oh, totally. Don't feel like licking myself anymore. Just Rikku." Where did that come from? He looked a little startled with himself.

Vala looked proud of that piece of information. She'd have to remember to congratulate Rikku later. "That's as it should be. No, ah, residual effects?"

Jude went pink around the pierced ears. "Uh, n-no."

Noticing the pink ears, Vala asked, "You sure? I can be very helpful, if you have questions."

"About being a cat?" Jude blushed some more. He was pretty sure that's not what she meant.

"No, I've never been a cat before," she shrugged a shoulder, "but it sounds like it should be fun."

"It wasn't bad," he considered. "Didn't have to work, I got to sleep like all the time, and Rikku took me everywhere with her."

Vala smiled, "So, better or worse then being a human?"

"Worse," Jude decided. "Totally got its perks, but I think being a dude better."

"How come?"

Jude blushed again and started stammering something about skateboarding.

Chuckling to herself, she asked, "So, why are you in the class, Jude?"

Jude rubbed the back of his neck. "'Cause I'm, like, totally useless at chick-stuff?"

"Well, you seem to make Rikku happy, and there was that thing about the licking, so...where's the problem?" Yes, this was a serious question.

Jude blushed even more and looked down. "I . . . I just wanna do it right for her. I guess. So I don't . . . mess things up."

"How sweet!" Vala beamed at him, "That's exactly the kind of thing you should be thinking--no one wants a boy who's a brute, at least not when they're still learning about sex. And the common misconception is that sex isn't something fun--which just means you need to get better at it."

She considered. "Is there something you do with your spare time that you're very good at?"

"S-s-sex?" Jude stammered, blushing. "No - we don't - i-i-it's not like that -"

He gulped and tried to stop blushing. "I-I skateboard and play video games?"

"How did you learn how to do those? Were you naturally good at them? Did you learn how to play by reading a book or watching other people? What?"

Jude thought about this. "Well . . . I guess I'm good at boarding . . . but I practice really hard. Same with video games, but I guess I learned that stuff from playing with other people."

"So play with other people and practice really hard at other things you might be considering, and it'll work out the way you want it to," she promised, raising her right hand, "Scout's honor."

Not that Vala was ever a scout.

"O-okay. Thanks, bra - ma'am."

"You're welcome!" She said cheerfully, once again proud to have been helpful to a student. Or what she that was helpful. "I'll see you next week."

"Okay, see ya." He offered her a smile and a small wave and hurried away.
