This morning, Vala was clutching a cup of coffee like it was a lifeline. More coffee and an assortment of danishes were also set out. Students would probably notice the stitched scar on her face, as well as the one on her arm. Both were dinosaur-inflicted, but she wasn't overly bothered by them.

"Good morning," she yawned and gave a listless wave, "Today we'll be discussing the opposite sex. Which, since this is the title of the class, you can't say is a big surprise."

"Before we can develop a plan of attack and help you get over the stark terror of stepping into the dating pool, I'd like you to make a list of what scares you, confuses you, or annoys you about the opposite sex. Then I would like you to pair up--with someone of the opposite sex--and trade lists. Hopefully a lively discussion will ensue. Try to help them understand the differences, if you can."

Another yawn. "Please hand in all lists at the end of the discussion to either myself or Jack, so that we can decide how to better structure the class for the rest of the summer."

[ooc: Posted extremely early because I will be AFK until Friday night, EDT. Obviously, there will be SP. And possibly Jack-pinging. Not dirty. ~~I think~~]

Savannah smiled. "Alright. I warn you, mine is pretty lame."

"Mine, too," Chad admitted, ducking his head a little. "I like girls. They don't really confuse or scare or annoy me at all..."

And he slid his list (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1448167.html?thread=88494567#t88494567) toward Savannah so she could ahve a peek.

"I like guys because they seem to be the best at being a good friend."

"That's how I think about most girls, too," Chad grunted with a nod. And his whole thing about this class missing Nadia and Orihime and Pippi started settling in again.

Her list was simple.

Confuses: They get all flaily when you try to talk to them about serious things.

Confuses: They don't want you to be the only one they date, but if you date someone else they get weird.

Confuses: They don't give enough stuffed animals as gifts.

Annoys: Sometimes are just too damn pretty.

Chad pointed to the last one. "That's the exact same for you girls, you know."

He did maybe tuck away the one above it for future reference.

Savannah nodded. "I know. But I was having a hard time making the list."

Chad grinned a little. "Yeah, me, too...."

His mouth shifted a little thoughtfully. "But we're supposed to, like, discuss? So, um, that's why I mention that, well, I don't think two and three are entirely all that...encompassing."

"I am very bad at this."

"Have you had some problems with guys like that, then?" Chad, the sudden psychologist, nodded toward the items in question.

She sighed. "Guys that are too damn pretty can seem to make everything okay... no matter how you think you feel."

Chad just grunted at that. Hearing that almost made him want to go find whatever pretty boys Savannah was talking about and punch them in the face. And then they'd cease to be as pretty and could stop being jerks.

And then he realized, "I'm more confused about my own gender than the opposite one...Guys can kind of suck. As I guy, I apologize."

Savannah smiled at him. "I don't feel that way about you. I mean, you're on the squad and you've never hit on all of the girls."

"Well, 'cause that would make things weird at practise," Chad said. "And there are....cricket bats involved..."

Savannah laughed. "And see, I can talk to you."

"I would say that maybe it's just that I'm not pretty, but..." Chad pointed to his number four. "Everyone says otherwise."

"Why do you think you're not pretty?"

"Too big," Chad grunted. "Awkward."

Savannah frowned. "Says who?"

"Uh...." Chad shifted a little. "Me?"

"How come?"

Savannah had thought Chad was one of the nicest guys she had met and would have liked to have been better friends with him. Him thinking he was too big and awkward to be pretty confused her.
