Firearms and You #2 (Thursday, period 2)

Once again the class was in the Danger Shop, which was set up to look like a target range again. There was coffee and donuts on the table with the sign in sheet as well as another handout.

"Good morning," John said, putting down his own cup of coffee. "Today we're going to be looking -- and trying out -- various sorts of handguns." He talked at some length about the various types and advantages and disadvantages, covering the information that was in the handout.

"But enough talking," he said finally. "What you're all here for is to get to actually try them out for yourself. So please step up to one of the open spots on the target range. Like last week, the computer will provide whatever gun you ask to try -- as long as that gun falls under the category of handgun and is a projectile -- not energy -- weapon. If you're comfortable with a certain type of handgun, try something different. I'll be around to each of you to observe and give advice and suggestions as I feel are needed. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Please remember the gun safety rules we talked about last week and follow them; failing to do so will earn you detention." John looked around at the students and gave a boyish grin. "So, shall we begin?"

Anders thought he'd try out a Ruger P90 (http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg05-e.htm) semiautomatic first, and for variety's sake a Smith & Wesson 386PD revolver (http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg107-e.htm) after that.

The Ruger wasn't too much different from the Walther PPK and SIG-Sauer he'd been practicing with, but the double-action revolver was definitely different, as he discovered the trigger pull took a lot more effort than the semiautomatics. He did appreciate its ability to avoid jamming, though.

Savannah was thinking that she would like to try out the Smith & Wesson .45 ACP Chief's Special (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:S%26W-Chief.jpg) first.

You can blame Deadpool for the fact that Setsuna picked out a Desert Eagle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desert_Eagle). Then again, you could blame him for Setsuna even being in this class. She started with the familiar one to warm up with before trying out a variety of others.

Charlie kept it simple and picked up a Browning 9mm. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Pistol_Browning_SFS.jpg) She was blinking a lot, but being very, very careful, aware that she wasn't at her best this morning.

Prue picked out the Browning (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Pistol_Browning_SFS.jpg) (she didn't want anything too fancy the first time around) and went to go try it out.

After a moment's consideration, Dean decided on a M1911A Colt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1911_Colt_pistol), at least to start out with.

He took proper stance and proceeded to hit bullseye after bullseye. Not that he was showing off or anything.

Nope, not at all.

Let it never be said that Sokka can't be easily influenced. Thanks to Deadpool, he grabbed a Desert Eagle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desert_Eagle) like Setsuna did, but he also took a Walther PPK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walther_PPK), because of watching too many James Bund movies.

He unloaded them into the target, one after the other, with a wide grin on his face.
