Dale is dressed in full scouting regalia and in a very chipper mood as he sits at the main campfire sipping his coffee.

Apparently tussling with Dinos agrees with him

Sick bastard.

"Good Afternoon campers! I hope you remembered to wear comfortable shoes because we're going on a hike today. And not just any hike..."

Dale gestured to a stack of backpacks and camping equipment.

"We're going fully loaded. Why? Well you never know what you might need on a hike. So pack up your back with items you believe you might need and then lets get a move on. And for next week's class I'll need you to bring a swimsuit and report to the school pool."

Then Dale pointed to a collection of canteens. "It's going to be a hot one today, so make sure to stay hydrated."

But before we begin our hike, I'm proud to announce that all of you have achieved the rank of Tenderfoot. From what I've heard on the radio you've all been pretty busy, and I'm happy to pass out the following merit badges to all of you.

Claire packed lightly. Very lightly. Canteen-and-binoculars-and-not-much-else lightly. After a moment's thought she added a Swiss Army knife as well.

And her new hiking boots were kind of light weight and stylish over function as well. It wasn't as if she was going to get blisters.

And as the troop marched along, Claire might have spotted a small chipmunk having a very hard time trying to crack open an acorn.

It kept hitting the acorn with a rock only to have the acorn bounce off it's head.

The chipmunk scowled and chittered angrily at the acorn.

Claire glanced around to see if anyone else had noticed, then stepped away, towards it, slowly.

You never knew, maybe this was another student.

The chipmunk chittered angrily at the acorn and looked up at Claire as she approached.

He then offered the acorn to Claire with a pleading look on its face.

Claire looked over her shoulder again and shrugged on finding no one else watching.

After a moment's thought, she took the nut off the squirrel, and set it down on a large stone. Looking around, she found another stone and used it to smash open the nut for the squirrel.

The chipmunk did a happy dance of joy and grabbed the meat of the nut.

It happily pranced into the field with the nutmeat held high above its head singing the praise of the girl with the blond hair in its own chittering way.
