Accelerated Scouting: Period Five, Week Two

Dale is dressed in full scouting regalia and in a very chipper mood as he sits at the main campfire sipping his coffee.

Apparently tussling with Dinos agrees with him

Sick bastard.

"Good Afternoon campers! I hope you remembered to wear comfortable shoes because we're going on a hike today. And not just any hike..."

Dale gestured to a stack of backpacks and camping equipment.

"We're going fully loaded. Why? Well you never know what you might need on a hike. So pack up your back with items you believe you might need and then lets get a move on. And for next week's class I'll need you to bring a swimsuit and report to the school pool."

Then Dale pointed to a collection of canteens. "It's going to be a hot one today, so make sure to stay hydrated."

But before we begin our hike, I'm proud to announce that all of you have achieved the rank of Tenderfoot. From what I've heard on the radio you've all been pretty busy, and I'm happy to pass out the following merit badges to all of you.

Claire managed to keep pretty much in the middle of the group; neither too keen up front nor trailing behind, and just generallykept an eye out and enjoyed the sights.

Dean never really had got the point of hiking if you weren't actually tracking something or trying to get somewhere. But he followed along with no complaint.

Peter didn't mind so much the walk in the woods. As long as he tried to avoid looking at all the footprints of more vicious dinosaurs than the one he'd found.

Bridge is not quite *bouncing*, because bouncing while hiking is hard, but he's looking quite cheerful as he walks along.

Dick was really wishing he remembered to bring his ipod. He went through his internal jukebox and tried to get a song stuck in his head.

Hike, hike, hike.

Turtle hiked along and tried to keep her mutterings of 'come on, WPP....' as she listened to the report under her breath.

Ami walked towards the front, where the teacher was. It was a habit.

River quickly find her place up front of the group, but occasionally got distracted by small animals, odd trees or her own foodprints.

Naminé ended up near the back of the group, as she kept stopping for a few seconds whenever the scenery caught her eye. She would have to come back out here some time when she could sit and soak it in properly.

In the meantime she was grateful that she had handwavily gotten comfortable shoes that weren't her usual sandals.

Johnny fell in somewhere near in the back half of the line, and popped in one of the radio earbud headphones.

It was kind of an odd feeling for him to not hear at least some sound of other people and machines in the middle of the preserve.

John was still internally bitching about the short shorts, the neckerchief, and the knee socks.

Z trooped along toward the back of the line, keeping a wary eye out for bugs.

As Liz walked she mostly stayed near the back of the group.

Robin kept a brisk pace, but occasionally had to hop to catch up to rest of the group.
