Journalism Class - Tuesday September 27
Spider is obviously absent today, although there are growling noises from beneath the desk which indicate that the cat is present. The newsfeeds are all silent and the note scrawled across the screen behind his desk reads:
Due to Electronic Difficulties, today's class on Monstering has been delayed until tomorrow. As the Interns have failed in their latest task, we will not be preparing for a field trip on Wednesday, either.
For those of you interested in a class project in learning to work together under somewhat pressing circumstances, please indicate that beside your name on today's roster and be sure your permission slips are turned in and in order. Friday, provided the Interns have finished their little errand, we'll be going on a field trip.
In the meantime, please concentrate on your homework assignment.

. o O (He's cute, and a total sweetheart, and the snakes don't freak him out, and I'm encouraging him to go chase his ex??! I am the dumbest female on earth. But I get good friend points.)
She continues, after a brief moment of thought, "So she's a witch. And she can't make a spell to help you. That can't feel good on her part either. We mean.. here's this awesome guy you totally adore, and one stupid thing happens and blam, awkward moment ensues. And this guy, he's great and all, but not a really big talker, and he avoids you completely because he's afraid of having another moment like that. If it were you, would you feel good right there? And how, exactly, do you compensate for that? 'Hi, Oz, so hey, about that thing..'"
She sighs and bites back any more commentary. Rubbing her eyes, she mutters, "Sorry. But you're being a dork, and it's making you unhappy, and we don't like to see you unhappy."

"I meant...maybe I'm...over her?" He shifted his eyes to the floor.

She slowly mentally counts to ten. In Latin.
"This thing, it's called English. It can occasionally be your friend. Today, however, it is not ours." She quirks an apologetic grin at Oz. "Sorry for ranting. You just.. don't seem happy about it. Are you over her?"

Duce glances absently around the classroom, looking at the bored faces of the other students, "Yeah.. well, not everyone is fascinated by wild animals. We're somewhat biased in favor of them, though."
Duce rubs the bridge of her nose, above the nosepiece of her glasses. She's getting that headache again. The 'I'm about to do something ridiculously stupid that shoots myself in the foot, but I just can't help myself' headache. "So.. if you were her, what would you want?"

He takes a deep breath, rubs a hand ove rhis face.
"I...I don't know. I'd want...pretty much want her to understand, the way you do. Not pity me, or...feel bad that there's nothing she can do. It's not her fault this happened. Not really mine either. I'd want her to love me anyway, and help me deal with it. Help me learn to control it."

There's a little gnome, somewhere in Duce's brain, beating on it with a stick and screaming 'IDIOT!' in a tiny, shrill voice.
"So you should go talk to her. Or, as you said, you should let her go. Avoiding it isn't ever going to make it better, or easier."

"Good. Cuz otherwise, we foresee you joining that Male Fans of Celine Dion club thing and .. really? Not your type of music. We might just have to kill you before we let you do that."
She tries to perk back up, "Well, hey, don't sweat it. It's just a dumb dance."
