Aly was waiting in the Danger Shop for the class to meet though she planned on ending up being outside by the end of the session. She waited for them, bouncing from foot to foot impatiently. Finally once everyone arrived, she began.

"First off, I hope you all had a good time over the weekend. I had a lot of fun, and you all showed yourselves to be very capable both in the paintball looking at tactics and the use of grenades and making the fireworks on Sunday." She grinned at them. "Making fireworks is actually pretty dangerous because of the packing of the black powder in the tubes. I had absolutely no qualms about letting any of you work with it under minimal supervision." Aly winked. "Which, if you noticed, the majority of my attention was on the other classes."

"So today we have two projects. The first is the one I gave you at the beginning of the term which was to design a plan to blow up the school. If you've ~~handwavily, I assume~~ done so, we have a set up in the Danger Shop where you can place your charges and see how the plan holds up."

"Second thing is we're going to head outside to just in the Preserve and fire off some cannon." Aly grinned. "Which, okay, are basically outmoded now and entirely effective as modern weapons for this world, let alone some of the civilisations some of you come from, but they're a lot of fun, they're tricky, and they're temperamental. So it should be an interesting last exercise."

She went through a quick but detailed lecture on how to load and fire a cannon using a Danger Shop mock-up to demonstrate on.

Once the students had tried out their explosion plans and checked out the simulated cannon, Aly led them outside for practice on the real thing.

"And one last thing to you all," she said with a grin after the cannons had been fired many, many times and all the shells used up. "I've definitely enjoyed having you all in my class. I hope you learned something and had fun, and I hope to see you in future classes I teach or in my office if you ever decide to visit."

With a partner, swab out, load, and fire the cannons. Not at people. Just to be clear.

Seriously! It's fun! BIG boom and smoke and cannonballs and...well, I like it. :D

Charlie had grabbed one of the big plunger things, and was now inspecting one of the cannons.

"Think that one will do?" Dean asked.

"Looks clean," Charlie said, "So it shouldn't smoke or blow up on *us*." She grinned. "I'll pack the powder, if you set up the fuse?"

"Sure," Dean said. He got to work on putting the fuse in. "So I heard on the radio the other night some stuff about Johnny Storm," he began leadingly.

Charlie looked up from packing the cannon, wondering which stuff he'd heard. "I missed the Radio, but I heard some stuff too. What did you hear?"

"Stuff that makes me think I should borrow Dawn's frying pan and hunt him down for a little talk," Dean said.

Charlie fought the urge to blush, die, and hug Dean, all at the same time. "Nooo... Turtle already kicked him. And Dick Casablancas punched him. And I'm not dating him any more. So, kind of overkill at this point."

"Hey, I don't mind a little overkill if you don't," Dean told her with a smirk.

"Deeean." Charlie hopped off the cannon, shaking her head but smiling. "It's okay, seriously. Johnny's still a friend, but we're not going to date." She wrinkled her nose. "Too weird. I don't know if I want to date anyone now."

Well. Anyone who'd be interested, anyway.

"I suppose everyone needs one friend who's a moron," Dean allowed.

Laughing, Charlie joined Dean near the fuse, holding out matches. "Or at least has serious lapses in judgment?" She grinned at him. "And one friend who's willing to break out the frying pan. Or more."

"Hey after this class, I can always offer to shoot morons out of a cannon if necessary," Dean said with a grin, taking the matches from Charlie and lighting one.

Rikku bounced up to one of the cannons. "So what are we firing at?" she giggled.

"Ummm." Molly looked around. "Oh, the range markers are there," she pointed. "I guess we see how far we can get it."

Rikku laughed. "Wow. I love this class. Okay. Uh ... which bit you wanna take?"

"I can swab out and load if you want to aim and fire," Molly offered. "Then we can switch after a couple shots."

"Dude. You are awesome. Yeah, we'll switch off, 'cause this is gonna rock." Rikku bounced in place as she started moving the cannon around a little, attempting to figure out how to aim the damn thing.

Molly waited until Rikku was done before swabbing out the barrel and adding the charge and the ball.

Rikku grinned. "We should yell something. Battle cry or whatever. Any ideas?"

Molly shook her head. "Back home, our battle cry was 'Try not to die' so I don't think I'm the one to ask."

"Ours were all in Al Bhed and featured some kinda not-nice things about the Yevonites," Rikku mused. "Maybe we just haul off and shoot this thing."

Molly chuckled. "That sounds like a plan!"

Rikku bounced a little in place, lined it up again, and then yelled "VENA!" as she pulled the cord.

She watched the ball go sailing off and sighed happily.

"Sorry," she said. "That was just 'fire.' I had to."

Molly smiled as she watched the ball go. "Good shot!"
