Arts & Crafts 7, Tuesday 5, Main Campfire Area

Steve stood at the edge of a large, tarp-covered area as he waited for the students to assemble. He was dressed in sweats and a t-shirt with 'ARMY' emblazoned across the chest, and grinning broadly. In the middle of the tarps was a large piece of canvas, firmly secured to the ground. Around the perimeter was a lot of paint of many colors in various delivery devices. There were paint-filled Super Soakers and water pistols, paint balloons, and pans of paint.

"If everyone would please take off their shoes and leave them over there out of the splash zone...thank you. Now. Today is our last workshop together, and let me just say you've been a wonderful bunch of students. For our final project we will be working on a piece of collaborative art. Which is to say...

"PAINT FIGHT!"

"Hey, Mr. Rogers." Charlie offered him a paint-splattered hand. "Thanks for teaching the class this semester. I had an awesome time."

"Yup! I have gremlins and glitter and really weird paper airplanes to remember it by." She grinned. "Maybe I'll take Art again if I'm here in the fall. It's really relaxing."

Charlie shrugged, looking a little worried. "Well, I have to get a scholarship if I want to stay. My grandfather doesn't have the money for me to be here without one. So I have to talk to Principal Washburn pretty soon, and find out how to apply. I don't know how many they have, or what they base them on. I'd really like to be here in the Fall, though."

"Thanks! And I hope you have fun teaching the rest of the summer."

A paint splattered Teddy edged his way over toward Steve after class was over. "Are all the teachers here trying to cover us with paint?"

Teddy chuckled. "I can see that. It's like one of those splatter paintings from the modern art museum back home."

"I feel like a really weird street performer," Teddy replied, peeling a bit of dried paint off his arm. Ow, hair, ow.

That was true. And if Teddy was really smart, he'd just make it so he didn't have hair on his arms anymore, but that was just too logical.

He stopped picking at his arm. "You sticking around for another class?"

"This was fun Mr. Rogers, are you teaching a class next term too?" Haku asked hopfully.

"Oh? Can I ask what you're doing next term?"

Naminé - whose dress was now spattered in many different colors of paint - walked up to Steve after class, a little hesitantly. "Mr. Rogers?"

"I was going to thank you for a lovely class," Naminé laughed, eyes dancing, "but if you would throw that paint balloon at a poor, defenseless, unarmed girl, then perhaps I shouldn't."

"Very good. And I did, thank you, and I ... really needed this class today." Naminé laughed again, stepping away for a moment and then returning with a paint balloon, which she bounced lightly in one hand. "And how do you feel about poor, defenseless armed girls?"
