Flight & Flying [Friday, June 22, 2nd period]

Anakin was waiting for the students on the top of the apartment building in town, leaning up against a Lambda-class Imperial shuttle.

"Welcome to the Virgo," he said with a small smile before giving them a quick rundown of the general specifications of the ship. "It's twenty meters long and is generally used to ferry soldiers or cargo back home," he said. "It's also equipped with a hyperdrive--which we will not be using--as well as two forward-facing double laser cannons, two wing-mounted double cannons, and a rear-facing double laser cannon." He met each student's eyes. "Which we will definitely not be using. We're going to do a quick swing around the system here--we won't go out as far as Pluto, but since it's not a planet any longer, I doubt it will be that offended."

He waved a hand towards the ramp. "Come aboard."

"I appreciate that," she says, smiling. "I did find a dress, but weaponry will probably not be possible. Though I think Sam will be armed enough for both of us."

"Lightsabers are part of Jedi formal attire," Anakin pointed out hopefully.

"Oh, I don't have a problem with it," Aeryn tells him. "But I'm not sure exactly how comfortable John's very normal family would be. Then again, I don't think they'd be reassured by a weapons check at the door, either."

"I can tell them it's a flashlight?"

Because lots of people traditionally bring flashlights to weddings.

Aeryn laughs. "We'll see what we can do. How are you doing?"

"I'm okay," Anakin said, nodding. "Flying makes everything better, you know?"

"Yeah," she says, and vaguely wonders how often she'll get to do that once she's out of Fandom. "It's good to see you calm."

"It's nice to be calm," Anakin admitted. "I don't like being out of control."

"You deserve for things to settle down for once," she says. "After all this time."

Anakin gave her a wry smile. "I'm not sure I know what to do with myself."

"You've run out of things to fix?" she teases.

"I had to reconfigure the hyperdrive twice in two weeks," he admitted, "and I was trying to come up with a way to make the shuttle less bulky." He shook his head. "But it's a shuttle. It'll never be a starfighter."

"I'm sure you can find something to do to the transport pod," Aeryn says. "I've kept up the maintenance on it, but I'm sure it'll be another story later." Not saying after she leaves.

Anakin's eyes went wide. "You want me to watch your ship for you?"

"The transport pod's not mine. I just commandeered it. That's up for anyone's use. I may have to ask it of you for the Prowler later, though. I'm trying to find somewhere to store it, but it's harder than I thought," she says.

"Oh, the weekend Luke commandeered my TIE?" Anakin asked. He gave her a small smile. "And I can take it apart? Really?"

He was ignoring the part about the Prowler for the moment. The repression was strong with him.

Aeryn is very good with repression right now herself. "Sure," she shrugs. "Biomechanoid parts to it, though. Those can be a challenge."

Anakin's eyes lit up with glee. "I can't wait."

Aeryn smiles back at him. "I should get back. Enjoy your project."

Anakin was practically bouncing on his toes. "I will," he said. "See you soon."
