Flight & Flying [Friday, June 22, 2nd period]

Anakin was waiting for the students on the top of the apartment building in town, leaning up against a Lambda-class Imperial shuttle.

"Welcome to the Virgo," he said with a small smile before giving them a quick rundown of the general specifications of the ship. "It's twenty meters long and is generally used to ferry soldiers or cargo back home," he said. "It's also equipped with a hyperdrive--which we will not be using--as well as two forward-facing double laser cannons, two wing-mounted double cannons, and a rear-facing double laser cannon." He met each student's eyes. "Which we will definitely not be using. We're going to do a quick swing around the system here--we won't go out as far as Pluto, but since it's not a planet any longer, I doubt it will be that offended."

He waved a hand towards the ramp. "Come aboard."

Anakin nodded carefully.

"He managed to crawl his way back into a position of opportunity. The military back home's dealing with him, but he's a slippery guy."

Anakin didn't look especially pleased to hear this. "And he puts his son in the middle of this?"

"He, he seems kind of wishy washy about it. Sometimes I think he wants as little to do with me as I do with him, he's tried to kill me twice, and then sometimes it seems like he wants me on his side, by hook or by crook. He's not right in the head."

Anakin rather resembled those remarks.

He frowned. "If I were you, I'd stay away from him."

"That's the general idea yeah." Billy nodded. "I managed to avoid running into him last week so my track record's not too bad."

"Good," Anakin said, nodding sharply. "Don't get pulled into the flaming wreckage of someone else's life."

Billy felt the occasional twinge of regret that things had turned out they way they had between his father and he, but mostly he agreed whole heartedly with Anakin.
