Building a Better Fighter [Week 6, Period 5]; Thursday 06/21

The students might noticed the Danger Shoppe looking a lot different than usual. While Kenpachi usually set it up to resemble a somber, basic dojo, today it was a smörgåsbord of bright colours. There were comfy bean bag chairs scattered around, and little tables with glue, beads, string, and other arts-and-craftsy type things. And, of course, glitter.

If anyone picked up on the fact that it looked rather like a little girl's playroom, they might not be surprised to see Yachiru at the front of the room, beaming at them from atop a large desk, and no Kenpachi to be seen.



"Hello, Class!" Yachiru greeted them happily, arms out to her side for a moment before the darted behind her back. Her bright expression faded quickly into a pout. "I'm afraid Ken-chan is very, very sick. His gigain is not taking to the real world very well, so he couldn't make it today. As his Lieutenant, I will be filling in for him. He said I should stick to his lesson plan, but his lesson plan wasn't very fun, and so I thought we'd do something else that would be fun, but you have to promise me you won't tell him, okay? In exchange for your silence on the matter, I have decided to share with you some of my candy. Please know that I don't just share my candy with anyone. I think you are all fantastic and fun, though, so yay candy!"

She began to pace the desk she was standing on with big, important strides. "Now. I know recently Ken-chan gave his biiiiiig speech about weapons and how their just tools and so it's not important to care for them. I have to admit that I'm with you guys on this one and think he's a big silly head. See?" She stopped, hurried to the back of the desk and then came back, dragging something on little wheels behind her. "This? Is my sword!"

Happily, she picked up the weapon, which was nearly the size of herself. And pink. The sheath was very, very pink. "It has a very nice colour, and, look! Wheels and a string to pull so I can carry it easily. Look at my hilt! It's shaped like a flower, isn't it nice? And see these?" Her finger batted at the little strings of beads hanging down from it. "They're rather nice, aren't they? We're going to be making these today! Pretty little beads to help decorate your weapons! It's be so much fun! There are instructions on each of the tables, but they're not very hard at all."

"But just don't tell Ken-chan!"

"If you get done early, there's crayons and paper over there, too. Because Ken-chan is so sick, he might not actually be here very long, and I think it would be rather nice if we drew pictures for him. Of your most favourite battles ever! We'll put 'em in a book so he can remember you all forever!"



With that, beaming even more than before, she hopped off the desk and got ready to bounce around to see how everyone was doing with their hilt beads and battle pictures.

Gwynn thought Yachiru was adorable, but was also sure that Robin and the others would kill her if they ever found out about this class lesson.

However, she was in a good mood and thought about the beady things and what she could do with them.

Ami was still rather distracted by the events of yesterday. She fingered the bracelet on her wrist as she vaguely listened to Yachiru.

Adam couldn't help but grin. Yachiru really was adorable. He wasn't so sure about the lesson, but decided it might be fun. He might've even make something for Tommy and Rocky.

Grab some string, some beads, and make a decoration for your sword hilt.

They also double nicely as keychains, but Yachiru doesn't have keys. Only a sword.

Adam made a couple, color coordinated of course. One white one, a red one and a black one.

It was a little like picking the crystals to use when making a lightsaber, Qui-Gon reflected as he chose beads to make the demonstrated decoration. If the beads were mostly shades of green, it merely spoke to Qui-Gon's consistency in his favourite colour.

Molly didn't have a sword, but she figured she'd find some use for the bead decorations.

She selected some gold and pink beads and alternated them on the string.

Peter couldn't imagine Orieus' - or Edmund's - reaction if he came home with strings of beads attached to Rhindon's hilt. But he found some blue and gold beads and started making a string. Maybe Willow would like it.

Alphonse didn't have a weapon either, nor was he sure what he'd do with a bunch of beads once he was finished. Oh well, he'd figure out a use for it later. Once he decided on the colors to use, he got to work.

Tori took Yachiru's offer and made one that was blue beads. She thought about it and decided to make a few for the boys back home and one for Luke.

Beads were fund to string, even if it would be a bit difficult to attach them to his needles, Haku could always have a string to hand off of his mask.

Dawn started stringing some beads together--no reason she couldn't use them on a stake, after all. Plus, this one would be hers and Buffy would be all jealous at the prettiness and better grip.

She really liked this assignment.

Although Mikey did have a few issues stringing beads onto the thread with his big turtlefingers, he did rather enjoy doing so. Orange and green beads to decorate his nunchhucks with? Awesome!

Um, hi, last minute inspirational cracktastic magic! Sorry for deviating from the syllabus but I have decided that this will be Kenpachi's only semester, contrary to my original plans, and this had to be done, really.

And? Another job interview today, yay! So, instead of Ken selling you lingerie, picture Yachiru trying to sell you cookware.
