Ninja-ing - Wednesday 1st period - Week 5

“Good morning everyone,” Yondaime nodded his hair looking a bit on the... odd side. “There’s not a lot going on today. So we’re going to continue on working with the weaponry that I introduced you to last week. I want you to work in pairs and try out each kind of weapon and figure out which one you like the best. There are targets placed all around the area and some are hidden. These are real, weapons so again please be very careful. No poking people.”

Teddy waved like a dork.

Setsuna blinked because, dude, you don't dorkily wave at people who are holding sharp pointy objects they could embed into your forehead. Not that Setsuna would ever try to do that to Teddy, but, you know.

Still, she gave him a little smile and a wave back. "Hey, Teddy. Want to partner up?" ~~for wing babies?~~

Well it's not like Setsuna had a habit of throwing sharp things at him or anything. If she did, he'd totally be less dorky about the waving.

Maybe. The weapons were just too awesome to keep the dorkiness down.

"Sure! ~~Adorable wing babies sound great.~~"

And if Setsuna knew that fanboyish glee over the ninja weapons were lurking in Teddy's brain, she'd be a little more reluctant to work with him, out of fear that she'd be the one to accidentally get a shuriken in her head. Which she did not want right now, because she and Alphonse were finally together and that would put even more of a damper on their relationship than Alphonse blaming Cuddles' name on her.

She ran her fingers over the small ninja star. "You worked much with these?"

"Never," Teddy replied, grinning at the shuriken. "They were more Kate or Eli's weapons. I just smashed stuff."

"You're used to kind of specialized areas, too, huh?" Setsuna responded. "This is all mostly Kaede's thing, the kunai and the larger shuriken. But I figured practising swords is going to help me much as I've been doing it for so long, so these little guys won out. A little...apprehensive to work with them, though..."

Teddy shrugged helplessly. "You know more about it than me still. Weapons and me aren't a good combination."

"How many different weapons have you tried?" Setsuna asked.

"A cricket bat once."

Because there was no way he was touching a gun.

"And that's all?" Setsuna's eyes were a little wide at the idea of someone never using any kind of weapon before....

His hand rippled slightly as it became armored with scales and spikes formed along his knuckles. "I don't usually need one."

"Usually," Setsuna said, her matter-of-fact tone already in full effect. "Consider for a moment, Teddy, the class you're in. Brute force gets you no where in ninja-ing, so, if anything, you could really be using weapons, like these shuriken, to learn and adjust to a more...graceful approach...In fact, Japanese weapons are built with stealth foremost in mind. I could always teach you, if you were interested, so that you can get a feel for a style where strength is not the issue, but agility and speed..."

Yes, Setsuna had a little bit of an addiction to taking on students...

Teddy blinked at her. "Really? You'd help?"

"Of course," Setsuna responded. "I ~~have a chronic problem with teaching with~~ am always willing to help someone learn swordwork. I just never realized you were interested ~~or else I'd be pushing earlier~~."

He hadn't been interested before. The whole stealth and speed thing never seemed to be his thing. Superhero, really obvious outfit.

"Awesome! That'd be really, really cool."

"Great!" Setsuna may have actually even bounced a bit. "When might be good with you? We can meet in the salle and do some work there..."

If there was a bounce, Teddy wasn't going to comment.

Because he was bouncing enough himself. "Does Friday work for you?"

"Friday morning, yes," Setsuna nodded. "I have to work that evening and, well...that afternoon, I, uh..." Shift. "Should stop at the bookstore and see Alphonse. Heh." Setsuna was blushing a little, and paying sudden attention to her shuriken again.

Teddy grinned and raised an eyebrow at the blush. "Really?"

"R...really," Setsuna nodded, and pretended like she was considering the target more than anything else right now. Including the increasing blush. "We...we're, um....going out now." And then actually saying it made her shoulders lift a little in an attempt to contain a happy little squee-like reaction, and she gave the shuriken a toss with a sharp flick of her wrist, sending it through the air and plunking it into the edge of one of the targets. She grinned.

Seeing Setsuna blush was just so damn funny that Teddy couldn't focus on the throwing.

"This a recent thing?"

With a small snort as if trying to laugh might help make her less blushy and even a little squirmy now, Setsuna lowered her head. "Yeah. As in, um, I, uh, just asked him the night before last..."

Squirmy and blushy! It was cute.

"Good. I'm glad you're happy."

More squirms and a definitely nose wrinkle as she asked, uncertainly, "Yeah?" After all, Setsuna had kind of avoided Teddy after a while with the whole Ranma thing, but...

Teddy nodded, not the type to hold a grudge.

"Everyone deserves to be happy," He said softly.
