Student Newspaper - Announcement

With the disappearance of our editor and a few of our staff and with the upcoming student elections and the dirt which can be dug up, campaign ad space that can be sold, corruption that can be uncovered, priceless opportunity which this creates for aspiring journalists, I feel that things need to be brought back into some sort of order.

... starting with a new student editor so I can go back to my dissolute lifestyle.

Here's the latest list of contributors that I know of, and this week's journalism homework ought to provide plenty of filler for an election publication.

Veronica Mars - [livejournal.com profile] veronicamars1 (photographer/writer)
Chloe Sullivan - [livejournal.com profile] chloe_sullivan (writer)
Phoebe Halliwell - [livejournal.com profile] future_visions (editorials/writer)
Rory Gilmore - [livejournal.com profile] rory__gilmore (fun column + writer)
Connor MacManus - [livejournal.com profile] teen_twin (entertainment writer)
Jake Gavin - [livejournal.com profile] courier_gavin (research?)
Laura Holt - [livejournal.com profile] lauraholt
Jo March - [livejournal.com profile] writer_jo (thriller serial)
Georgia Lass - [livejournal.com profile] deadlikegeorge - (columnist)

Remember, all journalism students get extra credit for belonging or contributing to this student group.

Boss? You forgot me. Writer.

I am blind. It's been a very long weekend.

[identity profile] deadlikegeorge.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
My grade will need all the help it can get. I could write a column, maybe. Whatever.

[identity profile] deadlikegeorge.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
*headdesk*

Hopefully I won't live to regret this.

((OOC: *grins* George could stand in for obit duty, when necessary.))

[identity profile] deadlikegeorge.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
((OOC: Thanks! I'm having lots of fun with her.))

[identity profile] lady-jessica-bg.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
(ooc: Actually, I think I'd have some fun writing obituaries. There's a huge amount of comic potential in something as short and to the point as an obit.)

When are you going to take applicants for the editor position? Because I would love to do it - and no, it won't be a problem juggling both the paper and the yearbook.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh! Yay!

*secretly hopes no one else sees this thread*

[identity profile] courier-gavin.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
*votes for Rory in hope of coming on Logan's good side after molotov-ing all his booze*

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no. You took Logan's booze?

Why? Why would you do that? You have angered the beast! Hide!

[identity profile] courier-gavin.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
There were zombies! *flail* Zombies!

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, I know, but...coming between Logan and booze would be like...like...taking my coffee!

In other words, entirely uncalled-for. I repeat, hide!

[ooc: *snerk*]

[identity profile] courier-gavin.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? As bad as taking away coffee?

Are you sure?

Wonder if Krycek will protect me...

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
No. Worse. It's as bad as taking away my coffee, which is about ten times scarier than taking it from a normal person who doesn't have espresso running through their veins.

You'd better someone to protect you. You've been warned.

[identity profile] krycek-rat.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
...You must not know Jake really well. Rory, meet Jake, who spent the entire zombie weekend looking for a caffeine fix.

Protect from what now?

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, good to know. You and I will get along well then, Jake. Assuming my not-boyfriend doesn't kill you.

And Alex, it's good to see you survived the whole sombie ordeal pretty well. Jake took all of Logan's alcohol and Logan's going to kill him, so you have to protect him, k?

[identity profile] courier-gavin.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
All I had was psuedo-coffee! Man cannot live off psuedo-coffee alone!

Dude who's booze we took. Logan. Owns the house I live in.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, if you live you should stop by my room sometime. I just got a new espresso machine. I'm in 305.

Please tell me that you mean the royal 'we', and there aren't TWO of you who are going to be slaugtered?

[identity profile] courier-gavin.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
...I think you just became my new best friend. which'll give Logan another reason to kill me. Yay.

um, Krycek was there too. In fact? His fault! So his fault!

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! I love new friends who love coffee! And people say that young people shouldn't drink it...silly, stupid people. And if Logan held that against you, he'd have to kill about twenty other people, because I'm the biggest coffee whore ever and I'm sharing the espresso love with everyone.

Shame on you, Alex! Shame on both of you! HIDE BEFORE THE HANGOVER WEARS OFF!

[identity profile] krycek-rat.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Espresso is drinkable. I might tag along, if that's alright. And thanks, Rory. Good to see you came out alright as well.

You never said there'd be a psycho out to kill us if we took it! This is so not my fault!

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
You're definitely invited to stop by anytime you get a caffeine craving.

You silly, silly boys. I'm not kidding. Hide, or start your sucking-up campaign ASAP.

[identity profile] krycek-rat.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Will probably be dragged along by Jake, if nothing else. He's insatiable.

Is this a "death by big guns and righteous anger" thing or a "psycho killer slicing your throat open in the shower" thing?

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, goody. This will give me a chance to hone my mad espresso-making skillz. I'm getting pretty good at it.

More of a "you took my booze, hence I beat you to a pulp. See Rory for an ice pack and some gauze afterwards." thing.

[identity profile] krycek-rat.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Jake won't notice as long as it's vaguely coffee flavored. Not that you don't probably make good espresso, just warning that he may not be the best judge.

Is that all? I've lived through worse, trust me.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no, I'm the same way. But when I first got the machine - it was a gift - I had no idea how to use it, and it was really gross.

It could be worse - I've never actually seen him beat someone up. Just heard about it, and it was not a fun story. And I think he might still have my stepdad's gun, now that I'm thinking about it.

[identity profile] krycek-rat.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Like caffeinated sludge?

Gun? Jake gets to stand in front, then. I'm not willing to push my luck about a second rejuvenation.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, pretty much. I don't cook, at all, and that means I don't make tasty caffeinated beverages. But I'm getting better...ish.

I would get him presents. Logan, I mean, not Jake. Get him more booze, and offer him something pretty - though, not anyone/thing from the Apple, because then you will have to figure out how to keep me from hunting you down.

[identity profile] krycek-rat.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe someday you can experiment with making macchiatos.

Something pretty? Like flowers?

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, the trick to a good macchiatos is to serve 'em upside-down.

Flowers could be good. Or something more manly. Like a car.

If you need assistance, I'd love to help. I was the editor of the newspaper at my last school.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you sure you don't want to apply to be the editor, in that case?
mycanonhatesme: (Default)

[personal profile] mycanonhatesme 2005-09-26 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
You have no idea how much I would love having that kind of power! Well, I certainly wouldn't mind applying. But I wanted to see if anyone else wanted the job as well.

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I mean, I obviously do, but I also have yearbook. If you want it, I'll completely step down.
mycanonhatesme: (Default)

[personal profile] mycanonhatesme 2005-09-26 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd love to have you help though. At my last school, the newspaper was a pretty small endeavor - there were about four reporters, including me. Something tells me I'd need a little assistance in delegating for the paper here. *grins*

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Well...I wouldn;t say no to some kind of subeditorial position. Maybe something along the lines of a Features Editor? *grins and arches brows*
mycanonhatesme: (Default)

[personal profile] mycanonhatesme 2005-09-26 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds perfect to me. *grins*

[identity profile] teen-twin.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Thought I should just confirm I still want to be involved.

Was worried the whole thing dropped off.

Professor, would it possible for someone to volunteer as an occasional/freelance photographer?
