Construction Site [Monday]

As a new week opened, Fraser's back at the site, hard hat on his head and tool belt around his waist.

"We're making fine progress," he told the workers, "but we've still got a ways to go. Continue working, be safe and take breaks when needed. It's going to be warm today."

There were hard hats (yellow and one pink) and tool belts for the students to equip themselves with.

"After lunch is strictly picnic-blanket and relaxation time, promise," Anders said, doing his best to look innocent. Because really, after that suggestion.

Phoebe was also trying to look contrite and innocent after that suggestion, too.

"Promise," Phoerbe said with a smile as she leaned against Cole. "After lunch, we'll rest on the grass... and if I get too hot, I'll go back to the cabins where it's cooler, okay?"

"All right," Bel said gruffly. "But I'm keeping an eye on you. Both of you."

Anders smirked slightly. "I am perfectly well-behaved, thank you very much."

Phoebe was amused by Cole's gruffness because she knew exactly how worried and concerned he was about them. "I love you," she said softly, handing him a sandwich.

"Oh, Phoebe, well, you came and you gave me a sandwich. . . ."

"You know the way to a demon's heart," Bel said, hungrily taking a bite.

OMG. *throws peanuts at you*

"She also knows it's lunchtime and you have the world's biggest appetite. Let me know if you need something cold to wash that down with." Anders grinned and held up the cold four-pack of Gatorade bottles in his hand.

Phoebe grinned and made sure that she kept him well supplied with food. "I have to make sure my favourite demon keeps up his strength."

Bel snagged a Gatorade from Anders and another sandwich from Phoebe. "Don't want me to get all tired out working all day, either," he said.

"Even though you look really good doing it," Anders noted. "Really good. Just remember to stay hydrated and take your breaks and stuff. And keep cool."

He was in no way imagining Bel pouring a bucket of water over himself in slow-motion or anything . . .

It was a very good thing that Phoebe was empathic and not telepathic as that image would have kept her distracted all day...

"I won't have anything happening to you, Cole," she said quietly.

Cole glanced curiously at Phoebe. "How come you're all worried about me all of a sudden?" he said.

Anders raised an eyebrow at him. "All of a sudden?"

"I'm always worried about you," she said softly, looking down at the food.

"I'm fine, Phoebe," Cole said, reaching out to take her hand. "Nothing's gonna happen to me. I'm like indestructible now, you know that."

Anders cleared his throat gently. "If you're allowed to worry about her -- and me -- because you care, we're allowed to worry about you too. Indestructible or not."
