Freelance Treasure Hunting, Monday, Period 5, Class #3

The class had been handwavily instructed to report to the Danger Room Shop for today's class. Vala was looking especially smug as she played with the dials on the machine and munched on an apple.

"Hello," she greeted them cheerfully, "and welcome to what I'm sure will be an enlightening afternoon for you. Today we will be dealing with how to obtain your treasure or priceless artifact, once you've located it. As I'm sure you probably already know, in many instances, people who collect priceless and historically important artifacts and works of art tend to have elaborate security systems protecting these items and making it more difficult--but, and this is important, not impossible--for an enterprising individual such as one of you to obtain or liberate them."

"So, in today's class, there will be a number of scenarios programmed into the trust computer imaging system here, and your assignment will be to free it from its unfortunate incarceration. Please be aware that there will be a number of alarm systems and surprises along the way. There is also a table with tools," she gestured towards a number of burglary tools that were nicely arrayed on a table at the side of the room in Vanna White-esque fahion, "should you require them. Also, feel free to ask any questions along the way, and either my charming minion-er, assistant-or myself will answer you as soon as we can."

[ooc: Please hold for OCD. *la la la la lalalalala* *shuts off hold music* Play away!]

Marco casually wandered into the museum and began to study the security there.

Marco set his watch to match the rounds of the security gaurds and headed towards the bathroom. Once in a stall, He stripped down to the shorts and tank top he wore underneath his clothes. Shivering, he dug out a lighter from his jeans pocket and hoped desperately the fire alarm above his head was working. Yes, he had a plan, no, it wasn't a very good one.

Marco quickly began to morph to beaver, and two minutes later, trotted out of the bathroom, and quietly avoided people's feet. He was hopping that no one would look down in all the confusion. At the painting, he hoped to use his teeth to get the painting loose and away from most of its security. After that? Well...he hadn't gotten that far yet.

This seemed like one of the easier things to do and it didn't have the word bomb in. He walked past the picture a few times, studying it idly.

And then he walked around the perimeter of the room, looking for the closest exits.

He made a mental note of the exits and then wandered back over to the painting, checking for alarms or bells or whistles or gremlins.

He wasn't and contemplated just snatching the painting and running. He was pretty fast and had no idea about the locking mechanisms.

He peered in the bag of tools he'd brought and tried to figure out what did what and how. He pulled out something sharp and, upon noticing the mirrors, flopped his hair over his face to conceal himself. Not that he had a lot of hair to do it but, whatever.

He stepped closer to the painting, prepared to just cut the canvas out.

Evie sang "la la la, la la la" under her breath as she approached the painting, trying to figure out if it was too heavy for her to lift in its frame, once she got past the security bits. Hmmm.

Evie bit her lip as she studied the frame, then looked carefully over her shoulder at the cameras. She set her backpack down, and started rummaging in it, putting on her reading spectacles. No one would suspect someone wearing spectacles.

"Ah!" Waiting for the security guards to leave the room, Evie waited until she was sure there would be at least a three or four minute gap before they came back, then walked just outside the room-- and pulled the tab on the smoke canister in her hand, and rolled it back in. "Yes!"

Let's see those cameras catch her now! Ha!

Evie had completely not expected that, and started forward to actually apologize. Then she started coughing. "Blast." Oh, why hadnt's she put on the gas mask first? And maybe she should give it to the guard....

Feeling absolutely terrible, Evie pushed the gas mask into his hands as he shoo'd her out, hoping he wouldn't think to stop her.

And that would be Evie, hurrying very very quickly for the exit, muttering, "Excuse me pardon me, oh dear, oh, blast," as she rushed for the doors. "Blast, blast, blast!" She pointed backward. "Crazy person! Run!"

Okay, this scenario seemed a little more civilized for Turtle and, well, paintings were still valuable but a heck of a lot lighter, and there shouldn't be spiders or water in a museum because, hello, they'd ruin the paintings! So here she was, sneaking into a museum, peering around the corner of a room to check for guards before trying to swipe the precious artwork.

She'd gone back to the equipment table to get a ninja mask, too.

Carmela decides to go for the painting, casually looking around to see if she can spot the security measures she's sure are there.
