The class met in the Danger Room today. Aly was looking beyond gleeful at the situation.

"Okay guys, our first practical class is here in the Danger Room so everyone can get used to the way handling explosives feel without the possibility of them actually blowing you up. This one is going to be a redux for those of you who were in my Revolutions class so I apologise but review is never a bad thing."

"We're going to deal with improvised devices today, and two in particular, but first you do need to know a bit about the theory," Aly gave a concise but thorough lecture on explosive materials and the science behind them. When she was done, she didn't quite say 'now that that's out of the way,' but she was obviously more interested in the practical aspects of making things go boom.

"The two explosives we're going to work with today are two improvised explosives. You don't always have access to military material and you definitely don't always need it. One of the most common explosives in this word - and also one of the easiest to make is anfo - fertiliser and fuel oil. It sounds simple but a just a ton or so in a the right place could blow up a cargo ship and the harbor it's sitting in. The other is less an explosive than a weapon. Molotov cocktails - half gasoline, and half motor oil - you've probably already heard of them if your from this world. They're easy to make and can do a lot of damage especially against gasoline engines or wood structures."

"There's hundreds of other kinds of improvised explosives and we'll talk about those. What I want you to do today is to pair up and discuss when this type of improvised explosive device would be useful. Then make anfo into a bomb and also make the Molotov cocktails. After you have them ready, you can blow things up."

"Dude, I would be surprised if you weren't," she said with a smile. "But if she doesn't treat you right, I will so kick her ass and leave her bleeding in a ditch somewhere." She nodded firmly. "After all, you're sorta my Big Sib by proxy."

"Um." Anders laughed. "They, actually. And they're pretty protective of me, so that shouldn't be a problem."

Savannah shrugged. "Doesn't matter to me. You get hurt, I make things explode or burn on them."

"That could get to be messy," Anders warned her. "She's a witch, he's half-demon, and I'd really hate to see my boyfriend and girlfriend get into a fight with my sorta-little-sib who's a witch, too."

"And don't forget I'm part demon and part sorceror, too," she said with a big grin. "That, and Eve is on my side. She's half witch and half demon, too." She shrugged. "As long as they don't hurt you or cause you to get hurt, we'll have no problems. You get hurt, I'll take her down and Eve will take him."

She was very cheerful as she was protective.

"You're --" Anders kind of stared for a while. What was he, some kind of magnet for . . . okay, really hot . . . witches and demons? "Man, I never pick the boring friends, do I?" he laughed.

Savannah grinned at him. "Well, the school picked Eve for you... and since she's my ~~mom~~ cousin, you get me, too."

"Package deal, huh?" asked Anders. "Yeah, I can live with that. Around here I can use all the magical friends I can get."

"You're kind of stuck with us," she grinned. "Just like my assigned big sib is."

"Oh, great, it's even more of a package deal, then." Anders really had no idea. "Who's yours?"

"Cally."

Anders choked. "Oh, motherfrakking son of a -- that just figures."

Savannah blinked. "What? Is she your sister or something?"

"No, she's my ex," Anders said, wrinkling his nose slightly. "That's just sorta . . . funny. In an awkward way."

"Fun with Dysfunctionality?" Savannah asked with a huge grin.

"~~No, that's my tag when one of your other characters is --~~ Not dysfunctionality exactly," Anders replied with a laugh. "Just slight weirdness. And irony. In a uniquely Fandom way."

"Cally seems nice," Savannah said. "She's been really great to me."

"She is nice, yeah," Anders conceded. "She's great. It's just that we've sorta grown apart a lot."

"I really hope you don't think Eve and I will play matchmaker, because uhmm... no!"

"Wasn't thinking that at all," Anders assured her quickly. "Just kinda funny, the way it worked out. We don't talk to each other much any more, and now we might have to. It's not a bad thing."

Savannah smiled. "That's good. But hey, at least you have both Eve and I in the same cabin so you can keep an eye on us."

Anders snickered. "I guess that means I'll actually have to spend some time there, huh?"

"If only to be overprotective when the guys we're trying to see come to pick us up."

"Oh, do you need me to do the whole 'what are your intentions' speech?" teased Anders. "I might have to practice it first."

Savannah laughed. "Oh now that could be amusing."
