Arts & Crafts 2, Tuesday Afternoon, Main Campfire

"Good afternoon," Steve said. "Today we're going to make dream catchers, as I have been told they are traditional at summer camp. The instruction sheets and supplies should be on your tables. If you need any help, just let me or my TA--" Steve nodded at Teddy--"know. Also, I thought it would be nice if we all introduced ourselves so no one's working next to a total stranger. I'll start. Like I said last week, my name is Steve Rogers. I'm eighty-nine years old--yes, really--and I'm from New York City. I used to be in the army, but before that I went to art school." Steve pointed to a student at random. "You're next."

Charlie laughed, and said, "No, I haven't even met her at all, which is kind of weird. She read my application and just called to hire me. She seems nice, though. There's cats to play with at the record store ."

"There are cats? That sounds delightful. I hope your new boss is nice as well" She beamed. "I was equally lucky. There's a café in town and the maitre'd hired me to open for him, on Mondays. I suppose we shall both have spending money soon. I fear I shall spend it rather quickly."

"Yay for you!" Charlie said, looking pleased. "I'm working on Thursdays and Saturdays, but Miss Valentine said if I wanted a long lunch or business was really slow, she doesn't mind if I close early." She hugged herself. "I'm hoping to get a new jacket or purse with my first paycheck. It won't be much, but still!" She threaded a few of the beads, and studied the result. "It needs something...."

"Thank you! And I hope we both enjoy our employment. Perhaps I should stop by and visit you on Saturday, to see how your shift is going. If that's all right. I'm working Mondays." Naminé shivered a little excitedly. "I'm going back to that bookstore. What sort of jacket are you hoping to get?"

She leaned over to examine Charlie's dreamcatcher. "Hmmm. A few red stones tied in here and there for an accent, perhaps? To connect to the red in the feathers?"

"That's it," Charlie agreed, looking for the gold-veined red stones. "And definitely stop in! What's the bookstore like? I haven't had a chance to look around the town again." She threaded the red stones on, and admired the effect, then said, "Maybe a denim jacket. With some nice embroidery on it. Mine's pretty tame."

Naminé flushed lightly, glad she was able to help. "You should stop in to the café as well. It's Café Fina, and the waitstaff is all ... I assumed they were dressed up in costumes as kitchenware of some kind, but Lumiere said that it was a curse. I hope they'll be all right. They're very nice."

She smiled. "The bookstore is lovely. Alphonse let me pester him even though I was just supposed to be browsing, and even let me keep a book though I hadn't any money. I'm going back on Saturday to tell him how I liked it. It's very cozy. Bookstores have such a reassuring air."

"I think that would be lovely. The jacket, I mean. Have you gone window-shopping for one yet?"

"A curse? That's sad... did they say how it can be broken?" Charlie wondered, then smiled as Naminé described the bookstore. "I think I need to stop by there. I love books. And Alphonse sounds nice. I'll tell him you said he was helpful." She shook her head at the window-shopping question. "No, but maybe we could on Sunday, if you're not working then?"

Naminé shook her head. "Only that it wasn't theirs to break, and someone's true love needs to be found. I hope that happens quickly. They assured me it doesn't hurt, so I suppose all we can do is hope for the best."

"The bookstore is lovely. I can't wait to go back, with money this time." Her eyes lit up at the other girl's idea. "No, I'm not. That sounds ... that sounds very nice indeed. When would you like to go?"

"That's something, anyway, yeah." Charlie felt sad for the silverware people, then said, "How about Sunday afternoon? Since it's a day we're not working or having workshops or anything." She grinned. "And we can figure out where things are around here!"
