Building a Better Fighter [Week 1, Period 5]; Thursday 05/17

As the students settled into the Danger Shop, which looked like a suburban street in Tokyo, Kenpachi and all his massiveness came in with a billowing of his tattered, frayed captain's robes and stood before them with his arms crossed over his barrel of a chest. His eye scanned over the group, and he sneered. Pathetic. Almost every single one of them. Some...could have potential, but that would be left to be seen.



"Building a Better Fighter," he announced, a bit hoarsely, and he cleared his throat, rubbing at the bandage wrapped around it. "You are here because you are weak. You are here because you hope to not be weak. But some of you will always be weak. Don't be one of those people." He grinned now, something as sharp as his features, as deeply cut as the scars on his jagged face. Something...more than just a little bit psychotic.

"I'm going to skip all the getting-to-know-you bullcrap because I don't care. I might, if I feel you're worthy, but, right now, I don't. Make me care. Make me feel like you were actually worth naming."

"This is Yachiru." As if on cue, the little pink haired poked her head out and she waved with a bright smile at all the students. "She's here to help you. Or make your life more miserable. Which is also to be determined."

"This is your first task." A great, looming monster showed up beside Kenpachi, its colours distinctly black and white, its limbs distorted. It tilted back its head in a strange moan of a roar and then turned its eyes, dark and hidden behind a mask, to the students. "This is a Hollow. None of you, I've noticed, seem to be Shinigami and might never actually have to deal with one of these in reality. However, one of you..." Kenpachi's eyes went to the boy; he should know who he was, "...have managed to encountered them before. With the strange magic that is this room, however, you do not need to worry about being mundane in spiritual things in order to see them. To defeat a Hollow, you..."

There was a pause. "You know what? I'm not going to tell you how to defeat it. See if you can figure it out yourself. Get yourself 'killed,' and you're done. Don't want to see you in this room anymore until next week, where you will make up for your failure. Manage to defeat it or at least survive, then you're lucky."



Crossing his arms over his chest, he waited for the first student to step up and take the challenge.

He'd also think you're an idiot for taking notes.

Alphonse would be joining the ranks of those who were staring, a lot.

That-- Hollow, he called it?-- was huge and intimidating and he was going to have to fight that thing?

He swallowed and prepared himself. As much as he could, anyway.

After staring at the Hollow, if that was its name, for a few minutes, Adam glanced around, trying to see if he recognized anyone in the workshop.

This? Was going to be quite an experience.

Andros looked at the Hollow. As it wasn't from his universe, at least it was one less monster that he would have to deal with when he became an Astro Ranger.

An assortment of (moddable) weapons are available if you'd like them. Step up to the task and Kenpachi will send a Hollow your way.

Mikey grabbed himself a set on nunchucks and bounced about anxiously, sizing up his opponent.
Figuring that he really had nothing to lose, he ran at the thing, nunchucks swinging.
"Bansai, creepy looking mask dude!!!"

Okay, this was the Danger Shop. So, despite huge, creepy, and far from harmless looking monster thing, Alphonse was going to be okay.

Alphonse didn't need any weapons-- not the sort that were out for use. He slipped out a pair of gloves from his pocket and pulled them on, stepping up and ready to go. The surrounding area looked to have a good variety of objects; he wouldn't be limited on materials to use.

Adam centered himself, selecting a staff to take with him. He might need it. He looked around, wondering where the Hollow would come from and what it would look like.

Picking out a handgun from the assortment, Alec checked to make sure it was fully loaded before stepping up; hell if he was going to start off getting in close if he had a choice otherwise.

Buffy picked up both a sword and a stake. She stuffed the stake into her sleeve for later, and lifted the sword with ease. She approached the Hollow. "Hey you! Come pick on someone your own size!"

Tori's interest had peaked when she'd heard about this workshop. Deciding to check it out, she approached the instructor towards the end of the period.

"Hi, my name's Tori Hanson. I'm a recently graduated senior and I was wondering if there was a possible TA postion for this workshop?" She inquired. "I saw the description for this and I'm interested in helping out." Workshops like this always helped her expand her ninja training and her martial arts skills.

The key to defeating a Hollow is to break its mask.
