How to Blow Things Up: Period 2, Week 1

Blue hair still bright, Aly waited for the class to assemble  in the clearing she'd chosen for today.

"Morning, all," she said with a grin.  "For those of who who don't know me, I'm Alianne of Pirate's Swoop.  Feel free to call me Aly, if you have a need to be formal, duani is also acceptable, but the first person to call me Miss Aly gets things thrown at them.  The class is How to Blow Things Up.  Hopefully explosions are acceptable to all of you-" she grinned at those in her Revolutions class - "Because we're going to make a lot of them."

"But not quite today.  Today I want to get to know you and talk about a few important things before anything gets blown up.  First of all, not all of our classes are going to be in the Danger Room.  We're going to be working with real explosives with the real possibility of people getting hurt.  That means that if we're working with them and I tell you to do something, you need to do it immediately.  No questions, no what-ifs, no counterpoints, get down or get out of the way or stop what you're doing." 

"If you think that's going to be a problem for you, that's fine, but you need to go find a new class now."

"Secondly, this is a class about explosives - C4, hand grenades, TNT, the like.  We're going to have a class on magical ways, but outside of that , if you have special abilities that allows you to blow up things - or set them on fire -" she glanced at Zuko if he was there "I'd prefer the focus stay on the more chemical explosives."

"And finally," she began passing out what looked like basic floorplans of the school.  "For the last class, you're each going to design a strategy for blowing up the school.  I realise the idea is a bit passé after our visitors a few Saturdays ago, but let's pretend it's not the case.  Take the floorplans, take a look at them, and keep the project in mind as the workshop progresses."

She paused, watching the class.  "Now that that's out of the way, why don't you all introduce yourselves - even those I've already met, yes, and tell me a bit about yourself as well as your familiarity or experience with making things go boom."

Fraser had a coat over his head. And he was scowling. "I took your advice and something bad happened."

"Which advice was that?" Aly asked, trying not to giggle at the coat or the scowl.

"Wishing them joy," he said and gripped the coat tighter. "He didn't like that."

Aly stared and then laughed. "What, did you kiss him again or something?"

"Well, no, he kissed me again though," he said and looked up at the coat. Tried to, at least. Stupid Deadpool.

Aly tried to peek under the corner of the coat to see what colour he got.

He frowned at her. "No one gets to see! No peeking!"

"Aww, come on," Aly protested. "If you're blaming me for it, I at least should be able to see!"

At this point, he knew someone was going to see it. So, he dropped the coat and glared...as best he could. Fraser didn't really know how to glare effectively.

"Oh, thank you," he said and glared upwards at his pink hair. "He shot me with something!"

And now Aly was laughing. "He drugged you to dye your hair? Oh, Wade."

He ran a hand through his pink hair and then made a small sound of irritation. "Not just me."

Aly's eyes widened. "Oh dear. I really don't want to ask, do I?"

"Diefenbaker is now a very bright shade of pink too," he said with a grimace. "And not very happy with me at all."

"I can imagine," Aly said. "May I extend an offer of assistance in revenge?"

Rikku bounced up to Aly after class. Very, very excitedly.

"Are you really gonna have us do explosions? Real ones, not like the Danger Shop? I have supplies if you need some but you probably don't. You mean it, for real? Why is your hair blue? How come the summer classes are so unbelievably awesome!?! 'Cause I have one about annoying teachers and one about stealing things and it's like someone just wrote up a list of 'hey, what are things you're really good at and would like to do more of, Rikku?' and that is so so so great."

Aly had spent a lot of time around crows. She was used to following excited talk.

"Yes, we're going to do actual explosions. No point in making people careless by never doing real ones. What type of supplies do you have? I'd love to see them. My hair's blue because Deadpool and Yondaime are married now. Summer in general is awesome so we need awesome classes, and I'm really really happy to have you in my class, Rikku."

"I have ..." Rikku reached into her pouch, and then remembered. "They're in the weapons locker. So lame. But I have, like, grenades and gems and they're mostly from back home but they do the job, you know?"

She stared. "Deadpool got married!? I haven't even seen him since I got back! I got him a sword from my trip and maybe now I'll just pretend it's a wedding gift, too. Think he'll buy it?"

"I'm really, really happy to be here, too. I mean, a lot. There were so many classes I wanted and I couldn't take them all but, dude. Explosions? I mean ... DUDE."

"I'd like to see them and what they do at some point if you don't mind," Aly said.

"He should have told you!" Aly said with a grin. "I'm sure he'd love a sword for a wedding present. It's Deadpool, he's always happy with a sword."

"And explosions. Totally the best thing this side of spying."

Rikku grinned. "Absolutely! Uh, if we can find somewhere safe. Some of the bigger ones are kinda ... major."

"I know, that's why I thought he'd love it. The sword, I mean. It used to belong to someone ..." She got serious for a moment. "The best warrior I know. It's not being used now, I thought ... he might want it."

And shook her head, smiling again. "Can we add thieving to that list?"

"Absolutely!" Aly said with a grin. "I'm happy to have you." She paused then rummaged through her bag for a second. "I put together a packet on explosives safety and handling just so you're a step or two ahead of most of the students. Do you mind taking a look at it?"
