Arts & Crafts, Tuesday Afternoon, Main Campfire

As the campers arrived, they would find a tall, athletic blond man in a polo shirt and khakis presiding over picnic tables covered with crafting supplies.

"Good afternoon, everyone," Steve began. "I'm Mr. Rogers--no, not that Mr. Rogers, the other Mr. Rogers--and I'll be in charge of this workshop. We're going to have a lot of fun I hope.

"So, to get started, this week we're going to make gremlins." Steve was oblivious to any horrified twitching this comment might have engendered among his students. He was really new at this. "All the necessary supplies and instruction sheets are already on the table, so...get to it. You can work together if you want to, but please remember the glue and paint are for your projects, not each other. I'll be right over here out of the line of fire if you need any help or have any questions."

"A pleasure," Josh said, shaking hands. "I'm teaching the workshop on dealing with stupid people right now, and government during the school year. So it's essentially the same thing."

Steve chuckled. "Yeah, that sounds about right from my experience," he said wryly.

"Well, I used to be an important guy back home with the government," Josh said with a grin. "So I know of what I speak."

"Yes, I've, uh." Steve wondered how to phrase this. "Had my own dealings with them."

Josh looked interested. "Really? Were you a consultant or something?"

"No, military." Also, symbolical.

"Nice!" Josh said, grinning. "I know the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. He's a great guy."

"If you say so," Steve said. "Maybe ours is a different guy."

"Tall, black guy, goes by Fitzwallace?" Josh checked.

"No, sorry. Don't know him," Steve said with a shrug.

"I'll have to take you to Washington sometime and we can all go for drinks."

Josh was very bad at holding his booze, and he'd never invited Fitzwallace to do anything. He viewed both matters as unimportant.

"It does," Steve admitted, "but sometimes, you know, drunk seems like it wouldn't be that bad an idea."

"And sometimes it means you wake up in your office in a pair of fisherman's overalls and no idea how that happened," Josh said.

Josh smiled. "I know a guy who might know the guy, though, if you're ever in need of a great pair of yellow waterproof pants."
