New Kid Registration and Check-In - Open Tent Outside the Dorms - All Day Friday

Well, the office was gone, but apparently that didn't mean that the office drones had time off. They were in an open tent outside the dorms processing new students bright and early on Friday morning.

It was a veritable paperwork conga line as the human-looking members of the staff did their thing, along with Fred Trooper, Bucky T. Squirrel, Venus, Bob Gremlin and Roz. You might even see the tech support kitten out and about, trying to keep the computers running. Robert Goulet had a family reunion to go to and couldn't make it.

[OOC: New students, check in here! Wait for OCD! OCD and pie up. Have at it! General sketchy idea of how the dorms are set out.]

Aravis loved pie. Kind of a lot. It wasn't something readily available (you know, at all) in Calormen, so she hadn't discovered it until the year prior.

She happily tugged her veil below her chin and helped herself to some blueberry pie.

"Hello," Sabriel said politely, before getting to the point. "Have you seen apple pie anywhere?"

"Hello," Aravis replied, looking puzzled. She shook her head no, and then asked what seemed to be a reasonable question. "Have you misplaced one?"

Sabriel shook her head. "No, I'm looking for one. To eat, here," she clarified. She contemplated the table for a moment. "What are you having?"

"Blueberry," Aravis said. "It's wonderful."

She suddenly felt like beating her face into the table. "I'm sorry, I have much better manners than I've demonstrated. I'm called Aravis." She inclined her head in a little nod of respect.

Sabriel blushed. She was certainly not earning her grade in Etiquette right now, as Aravis had so elegantly pointed out. "I am Sabriel. I'm pleased to meet you. Are you new here as well?"

"As of today, yes," Aravis said with a small smile. "From where do you hail, Sabriel?"

"The Old Kingdom, but I come here from Wyverley College in Ancelstierre," she added, thinking that Aravis wouldn't recognize the Old Kingdom. "Yourself?"

Aravis didn't recognize any of it, but then, she'd never heard of Fandom until the other day. "Originally Calormen, though lately of Castle Anvard and the Archenlandish court."

"I'm afraid I do not recognize those countries," Sabriel had to admit. "Is it very far away?"

"Through the Woods Between Worlds," Aravis said. "Isn't that how you arrived here?"

Sabriel wasn't entirely sure how she'd gotten here. "No, I went on a ferry..." she said a little uncertainly. "I fell asleep and when I woke up, I was by the Causeway."

"How odd," Aravis commented curiously. "I was instructed to walk through the Woods, and though I left my companions in Archenland at dusk, it was morning when I crossed to the other side and found myself here. Yet, it had only been a few hours. Archenland is not of this world, though, from what I understand."

"Intriguing," Sabriel decided, and finally spotted an apple pie. She brightened. "Father didn't tell me much about this place, he only said it would be safe and that magic worked here."

"I was sent here as a contact for Archenland," Aravis admitted. "...there's magic here?"

Sabriel called forth a simple charter mark in her mind, holding it there until she felt the tingle of it working, and let it go. She nodded. "Yes. Does it exist in Archenland?"

"Somewhat," she said. "Narnia is where magic truly lives but we have traces of it in the neighboring lands."
