"Mellow is good," he sighed. "I think there might be some sort of rule that nothing weird is allowed to happen during finals." He frowned. "Unless you count endless questions as weird, in which case all bets are off."
"Hey! I have never asked anyone what their sign is." He shuddered. "So tacky. And I managed just fine, thank you. I'm taking Rikku and Dawn out for coffee some time this week. Well, I still have to ask Dawn."
"It's not my place to say Jack," Isabel said quietly. "It's Rikku's problem. If I'm lucky I'll be able to help her. If I'm not? I'll have taken an extra nap. But it's moot at this point because unless she gets a picture, I can't do a thing."
"Okay, okay, Isabel, but," he put his coffee down and stepped in front of her, resting both hands on her shoulders, "you be careful, and you come get me before hand, if you want me to watch you. All right?"
Isabel put her own coffee down and slid her arms around his waist. "If it even happens. I promise, I'll tell you when and call you as soon as it's done."
Raising an eyebrow Isabel gave him the once over. "You don't look like you were wounded. And do I want to know details about the tying up? Or is going to get into TMI?"
Laughing, he grabbed his coffee and hopped back on the desk. "Spy Tech final. Annette was supposed to shoot me, but I managed to steal her pendant - part of the assignment - tie her up with a grappling line, and I left her all alone in a dark train tunnel. So I probably deserved it when she got loose and shot me. I also had to go and grab a shower, because she let a stink bomb off near me. It was an absolute blast."
"Sounds like fun," she smiled. "We'll probably have to do something similar in Hunting later. I have to admit, I like practical exams instead of boring written ones."
"It was an absolute riot. We should take over the Danger Shop and throw parties." He stared into space as he imagined that, absently fishing out a muffing and handing it to Isabel. "If more exams were like that people would enjoy school a lot more."
"I gave serious thought to hijacking the danger shop for Prom," Isabel admitted, breaking off a piece of muffin and nibbling on it. "We could have had real canals."
"Maybe without shooting things, though. I don't think the formal wear would have stood it." Jack snickered. "Though I guess I could have hidden a gun under my kilt."

Isabel reluctantly let go and reached for her coffee. "So how many more exams? Just Gods and Survival Tactics?"
