Yomiko opened the library on time, again carrying a box of pastry. This time, however, she left it out for all the students, as she understood this was finals week and they would need the fuel for their studying. She just hoped none of them would touch the books with sticky fingers.

First Period

Ms. Readman selected a jelly doughnut from the box to be her breakfast. It was a noble sacrifice, but she was sure the jelly doughnut was up to it.

After a little thought and a cup of coffee to wake her up some more, Yomiko added a box of handiwipes next to the pastries. There, now they had no excuse.

Second Period

Ms. Readman sent out e-mails to any students who had overdue books, threatening dire consequences if they did not get them in and pay the fines promptly.

Third Period

[agentthepaper]

Then she sent out more e-mails, this time to students with books out that were not overdue, reminding them to get their books in before the end of the week.

Fourth Period

Then she got an e-mail of her own that sent her scrambling for the phone in her office.

"Recalled? What do you mean, I'm being recalled?"

Lunch

It was with a heavy heart that Yomiko closed up the library to go to the teachers' meeting. Unless some aides were there for lunch, the library is completely closed. Even if aides were there, no one else should be.

Fifth Period

She was back in her office with the door shut, and occasionally her raised voice could be heard arguing with someone on the phone.

Sixth Period

A saddened Yomiko emerged from her office. It was no good, Mr. Joker was convinced she was the only one for the job.

Which was, when you thought about it, kind of a scary thought.

Seventh Period

Ms. Readman tidied up the library, then decided to stay a little bit longer. You know. Just in case any students wanted to do some extra studying.
