Gun Club, early

After sending out a handwavey email that Gun Club would be an hour early today, Parker set up the range, posted the rules, then went back to wanting to chew her nails about Teal Dear's last concert.

SAFETY RULES:

· TREAT ALL GUNS AS IF THEY WERE LOADED

· KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL READY TO FIRE

· BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT’S BEYOND

· ALWAYS WEAR HEARING AND EYE PROTECTION

· NEVER USE ALCOHOL OR DRUGS BEFORE OR WHILE SHOOTING.

· CHECK IN ALL WEAPONS BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE RANGE

Luke was sympathetic. "I'm sorry, Z," he said quietly. "I talked to him after class and got blown off and called a drama queen." He frowned. "Jackass."

Z steadied her hands and fired at the target again. "At least it's over now."

"Thank the Force for it," Luke muttered. "What kind of strategy is 'run away' anyway?"

"The kind that never really works," Z said. "I've done a lot of running away, and believe me, your problems always come back or get worse. Or? You get arrested."

"Both of which aren't my favorite choices," Luke agreed. "I prefer confronting things head-on. I've only almost gotten eaten a few times using that strategy."

Luke shot a guilty look down at his hand. "Yeah...that was complicated. But it won't happen again!"

Good thing too--he was running out of hands.

"Yeah, you don't exactly have very many more to lose," Z pointed out. "And losing both hands...well, I wouldn't want to explain that to an HMO."

"It's like an insurance thing here?" Z tried to explain. It would help if she really had a clue, either. "They decide what's going to be paid for and what you have to pay out of pocket for. And I think you have to explain, like, how the accident happened."
