Spy Tech, Class Fourteen (04/18)

Wednesday, April 18, Period One

As had been announced the previous week, the class met in the Danger Shop. Today it was programmed to look like an open field, the perimeter cordoned off with yellow tape. A number of men and women in white lab coats and safety glasses milled around, and a firetruck was parked off to the side.

"No lecture today," M announced, approaching the assembled students. "Today, you'll have the opportunity to test out one of our agents' favorite inventions -- the Jetpack."

She gestured toward a small knot of technicians, who were making final checks on what appeared to be a number of bulky-looking parachute packs.

"Each Jetpack is fitted with a sensor which will not allow it to leave the marked boundaries, as well as a medical monitor which will switch the equipment to autopilot and return it safely to us should any of you become ill. Or if you begin using the Jetpacks in a manner which is hazardous to yourself or others."

M looked each student sternly in the eyes. "I expect you all to exercise caution and common sense when utilising this equipment. Now..." She pursed her lips. "Go and have fun."

As she stepped aside, the technicians approached, gave a quick demonstration on how the Jetpacks operated, and then assisted the students in fitting the equipment on.

[OOC: Playtime for today's class! Fly around in the Jetpacks, play chicken with the other students, have races, do whatever you like. Just remember that the Danger Shop safety protocols will not allow you to be injured, and the equipment is programmed to return you to M if things get too out of hand. So please, as M says, use common sense. Otherwise -- have fun! But not until the OCD is up, so fun-having may now commence!

Also: If you haven't signed up to let me know what kind of participation you plan to have for the Final Exam, PLEASE go to THIS POST and drop a tag in one of the OCD threads.]

Figuring that they were certainly more compact and definitely less exhausting, Setsuna made a genuine try to get used to the jetpack and feel familiar with it. But, after a while, she just got frustrated with the device, set it aside, and got out her wings. So much easier....Technology. Ugh.

And yes, she did still not take into account that not everyone knew about them....

And that would be John trying to zoom around at her. "Defend yourself, Werechicken!"

Setsuna very easily (and a heck of a lot more gracefully than with a jetback) darted out of the way. "Don't call me that!"

"You so love being called a Werechickenaiaiaaiaiiiaa!!" John said eloquently, as he somehow turnd his banking turn into a spiral.

Annette wanted to have some fun. Needed to have some fun. Just because she woke up a little sad and alone this morning had absolutely nothing to do with it at all whatsoever.

Putting on her jetpack, she made sure she was comfortable with the feel of it and walked around a bit first. Then ohmigod, she shot up in the air like a pro! Okay, maybe she zigzagged and tried really hard not to run into anyone and shouted often, "Coming through! Watch it! Out of my way! On a mission here!"

After she got used to it? She was shouting, "Fifty bucks to anyone who can catch me! Buwaaaahhh!"

John? Could so use the Franklin. The chase is on!

"You so can't catch me!" She yelled out after seeing that he had given her chase.

"SO can!" JOhn zooms after her.

"Holy Crap!" Annette just nearly avoided another student. "Uhhhh, no you can't! I'm the best jetpack flyer ever!"

John was having this problem where turns became barrel rolls. He's working on it. And zooming after Annette.

She looked over her shoulder at him and tried not to roll her eyes. He was so losing. He just didn't know it yet. She shot straight up and turned a hard right, and if John wasn't careful, he'd run right into the wall.

John managed to pull out of ht ebarrel roll with time to spare. He just kicked off of the wall for show. That's it. And the chase is on!

She tried hard not to look smug, and that's about the time her shoe fell off. "Dammit!" Looking down, she frowned and tried to swing down to grab it.

And there was John, who's not about to have a wardrobe malfunction stop him from catching a blonde jetpack girl. Zoom! "Gotcha now, Annette!"

"Dangit!" she heard him behind her and abandoned all hopes of getting her shoe. She shot forward again, fast, and spun around the danger room real fast, trying to get away from him. She needed a plan, a diversion...hmmm.

And John almost lost her, as he's still getting used to th esteering, but he's getting better. A lot better. And tailing her fairly well.

"Ohmigod, John! Behind you!" Yeah, it worked in the movies.

Re: Jetpacks! Fly!

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2007-04-19 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
John couldn't look, and so he didn't. "Omg, it's a flying elephant! heeeelep!"

Re: Jetpacks! Fly!

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-04-19 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
She shook her head and couldn't facepalm cause she was holding on. "There is no such thing!" She called out and zoomed onward!

D saw the jetpacks, observed them closely even, but wasn't in the mood to try them out.

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2007-04-18 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
John's grin threatened to split his face as he did a bit of testing with the jetpack and flew off, crooked as a butterfly path, not straight as an arrow.

Mac, would honestly rather keep both feet firmly on the ground, but she also likes her good grades. It's quite the dilemma.

She put the jet pack on, but was more than a little hestitant when it came to actually using it to fly.
