Spy Tech, Class Fourteen (04/18)

Wednesday, April 18, Period One

As had been announced the previous week, the class met in the Danger Shop. Today it was programmed to look like an open field, the perimeter cordoned off with yellow tape. A number of men and women in white lab coats and safety glasses milled around, and a firetruck was parked off to the side.

"No lecture today," M announced, approaching the assembled students. "Today, you'll have the opportunity to test out one of our agents' favorite inventions -- the Jetpack."

She gestured toward a small knot of technicians, who were making final checks on what appeared to be a number of bulky-looking parachute packs.

"Each Jetpack is fitted with a sensor which will not allow it to leave the marked boundaries, as well as a medical monitor which will switch the equipment to autopilot and return it safely to us should any of you become ill. Or if you begin using the Jetpacks in a manner which is hazardous to yourself or others."

M looked each student sternly in the eyes. "I expect you all to exercise caution and common sense when utilising this equipment. Now..." She pursed her lips. "Go and have fun."

As she stepped aside, the technicians approached, gave a quick demonstration on how the Jetpacks operated, and then assisted the students in fitting the equipment on.

[OOC: Playtime for today's class! Fly around in the Jetpacks, play chicken with the other students, have races, do whatever you like. Just remember that the Danger Shop safety protocols will not allow you to be injured, and the equipment is programmed to return you to M if things get too out of hand. So please, as M says, use common sense. Otherwise -- have fun! But not until the OCD is up, so fun-having may now commence!

Also: If you haven't signed up to let me know what kind of participation you plan to have for the Final Exam, PLEASE go to THIS POST and drop a tag in one of the OCD threads.]

"Holy Crap!" Annette just nearly avoided another student. "Uhhhh, no you can't! I'm the best jetpack flyer ever!"

John was having this problem where turns became barrel rolls. He's working on it. And zooming after Annette.

She looked over her shoulder at him and tried not to roll her eyes. He was so losing. He just didn't know it yet. She shot straight up and turned a hard right, and if John wasn't careful, he'd run right into the wall.

John managed to pull out of ht ebarrel roll with time to spare. He just kicked off of the wall for show. That's it. And the chase is on!

She tried hard not to look smug, and that's about the time her shoe fell off. "Dammit!" Looking down, she frowned and tried to swing down to grab it.

And there was John, who's not about to have a wardrobe malfunction stop him from catching a blonde jetpack girl. Zoom! "Gotcha now, Annette!"

"Dangit!" she heard him behind her and abandoned all hopes of getting her shoe. She shot forward again, fast, and spun around the danger room real fast, trying to get away from him. She needed a plan, a diversion...hmmm.

And John almost lost her, as he's still getting used to th esteering, but he's getting better. A lot better. And tailing her fairly well.

"Ohmigod, John! Behind you!" Yeah, it worked in the movies.

John couldn't look, and so he didn't. "Omg, it's a flying elephant! heeeelep!"

She shook her head and couldn't facepalm cause she was holding on. "There is no such thing!" She called out and zoomed onward!

She zooooomed faster, hoping to make him damn tired or something. "M is calling you, John! I think you're in freaking trouble or something!"

"Are not stupidhead!" Yes, derived from her six year old son.

"Stooooooooopidhead!"

John didn't waste time on taunts, he just targeted Annette, almost in reach of her other shoe.

Re: Jetpacks! Fly!

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-04-19 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Crap!" Looking over her shoulder only slowed her down so she just concentrated on where the heck she was going. "Out of my way people! Fifty bucks is on the line!"

Re: Jetpacks! Fly!

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2007-04-19 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
And that look over her shoulder is what cost her the $50 as John reached out and snagged her other shoe.

"You owe me a fifty, Blondie!" He yelled, and then spiraled almost out of control in celebration.

"Dangit! No fair! You cheated! Gimme my shoe back!"

Re: Jetpacks! Fly!

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2007-04-19 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nope! Gotcha! Ransoming the shoe for $50!" Zooom! Vrooom!

Annette pouted and settled down to the ground, shrugging out of her jetpack. She thought about kicking it.

John landed near her, triumphant.

Okay, the term 'land' was generously applied. More like 'crashed in a controlled manner' as it involved a lot of running and "shitshitshitturnitOFF!" but he managed not to knock her over. Really.

Re: Jetpacks! Fly!

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-04-19 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
He almost knocked her over, and the horrified expression on her face was an indication that she was scared for her very life!

Even though... he didn't run her over. He just sort of bumped into her, knocking her over.

She couldn't think of anything to say so she snapped her thumb and forefinger to her brow, making an L.

"Yes, HardyHarHargrove, you're the loser. Fifty!" He grins like an idiot.

She snorted. "Well, find me later then. Or tomorrow. Or the day after that. Hmmph."
