Detention, Saturday April 14

It just didn’t make sense to meet in the danger shop. As the students trickled in, they noticed that the room was decked out as Noblet’s classroom, with notebooks and pencils on all the desks. What good was the danger room if it was being treated like a regular class?

Chuck Noblet was seated at “his” desk, with the world’s smuggest look on his face. He took down the students’ names, making sure that everyone who was supposed to be there (and one who wasn’t) was there.

Jim Halpert
Annette Hargrove
Charlie Kawalsky
Naomi Wildman

Sam Winchester
Matilda Wormwood

When everyone was there, Chuck stood in front of the class, doing his best to loom forebodingly. “What a sorry state of affairs, huh? You troublemakers tested the boundaries of what was allowed, and learned that maybe you’re not as good as you thought you were.” He paced. “I know you’re not the worst of the worst; you’re the lazy ones. The ones who get caught. So I’m giving you little finks a chance to use this detention to change your evil ways.”

He motioned to the notebooks. “Pick up the pencil, and write “Wow, I really screwed up, and I don’t think I’ll be doing it again anytime soon.”” He waited for everyone to get that copied down. “Got it? Is it legible? Good. Now do that nine-hundred and ninety-nine more times. You all may leave when everyone has completed a thousand lines, and numbered them all so that I know they’re there.”

As Chuck went to his desk, the empty desks filled up with holographic students, who also opened up their books and started to do lines. All except one, that is. A student in the back of the room was sitting with her feet on the desk, looking though a magazine that was certainly not school-appropriate.

Chuck glared at her. “Jerri Blank! That is not allowed anywhere on educational property. I’ll have to confiscate it.”

Jerri gave Noblet a dirty look and the finger before tossing the magazine at him. It was a poor throw, and landed a few feet away from her. She looked sad that it was out of her reach.

Noblet rubbed his temples. “I’m gonna go get some aspirin. You kids keep up those lines. Remember, no one leaves this room until everyone has done their lines.” He looked pointedly at Jerri. “And that means everyone.” He walked out of the room.

Jerri got to work on her notebook. Not writing lines, however, but pulling out the paper, making paper balls, and tossing them at the wastebasket. None of them made it in.

[OOC: OCD will be up soon. is ready! Get that loser Jerri to work, or nobody's going home!]

Jerri was still tossing those paper wads. Her aim was so awful, she might've hit a few people.

"The hell?" Annette rubbed the back of her head, not because the paper wad hurt or anything, but just because, well, that's where it hit her.

She turned around and glared at Jerri. "You want to knock it off, please? Some of us actually care about leaving this room today."

Jerri lowered a ball that she was going to throw. "Look. Nobs can't keep us here all day. It's against our sixth amenamadement rights." She went right on tossing the balls, clueless to her lack of legal or verbal skill.

"Yes he can." Annette didn't know that for sure, but Jerri needed to get to work. Her paper wad throwing was a nuisance.

"It's in the school...handbook. Detention teachers have the right to keep any unwilling student/students as long as possible until he or she, decides to release them." She nodded firmly, lying through her teeth. "So just do it."

Jerri unfolded her paper, pouting. "Just tryin' to lighten up the mood. This place is a drag."

Naomi blinked as the paper wad hit her. "Um...could you please not do that?" she asked as she glanced at Jerri.

"Why? Am I bothering you?" Jerri tossed a paper ball at Naomi. But now that she was aiming for Naomi, it was impossible that Jerri could hit her.

The second paper ball didn't even come close to hit Naomi, "yes," she replied, "could you please stop doing that?"

Jerri laughed. "But you're such a good target!"

Sam let two of the wads hit him without comment before he turned around to glare. "Hey! Stop that!"

Jerri rolled her eyes. "Geez, it's just paper. It's not like you're taking a lead donkey to the face." She looked lost in thought. "Yeah, the ass alone on that thing could take out a delivery boy when dropped from two stories. I should know, I cut it off the statue and tried."
likethegun: (i'm questioning your seriousness)

Sam eyed Jerri curiously. "That sounds like a story I'd like to hear - after you finish writing your lines so we can get out of here," he said.

Jim threw a paper wad to Jerri, then quickly went back to writing his lines.

His lines featured poor numbering and even worse penmanship. Really, he could have been scribbling anything. He didn't expect Noblet to actually check his work.

A battle? Fun! Jerri threw her notebook at Jim.

The notebook hit Jim in the face. He picked it up and had a thought. "Don't you need this for writing your lines?"

Kawalsky had a plan. That plan didn't involve doing the task the way it was supposed to be done. When he got hit with the paper wad, he picked it up and threw it back pretty hard.

Then he went back to doing a couple of pages of legit lines so he could start putting subliminal messages inside a few.

"Ow!" The paper hit Jerri in the eye. She started piling up a bunch of paper balls, readying a massive assault.

Kawalsky turned his head. "Don't throw stuff or I'm gonna throw stuff back and I'm better than you."

Eventually, Annette did start writing. It was stupid though. Just plain stupid. Served no purpose whatsoever.

Jim was doing his lines. Most of them. Well, some of them. He was intentionally misnumbering his lines and let his handwriting turn into scribbles so that Noblet couldn't read whatever it was he was writing anyway.

Sam glanced over at Jim's paper. "Oh hey, misnumbering. That's a good idea," he said.

"I'm also writing nonsense illegibly," Jim said. "There's no way he's actually going to read this stuff, why do all of the work?"
likethegun: (i'm looking up at you)

"I still can't believe he gave all of us detention just because his stuff moved," Sam said bitterly. "But, I guess this is better than having to try to do anything physical."

Naomi began working on lines. For being written rather quickly her handwriting was still neat and tidy.
