Forensic Science - 5th period - Wednesday 4/11

Abby stood by a lab table full of Kwik Stop snacks as the students came into the classroom, drinking from a large cup of Caf-Pow.

“I’m sorry for flaking out on you guys last week so I brought you treats. Plus, everybody gets an automatic A for last week.”

Once people had gotten something to eat, Abby walked over to a wall of the lab where several blank-faced dummies stood in a row. “These are forensic helpers. They stand in a for a body so you can easily see the height or approximate weight of a person. They’re pretty indestructible. I’ve thrown one off a bridge, beat one with a baseball bat and tried to set one on fire.” Abby looked a little too gleeful as she counted off the damage on her fingers. “Today you’ll be using it to replicate the crime. Try to figure out how tall the killer was.”

“But let’s get to the crime scene for today. I’m really excited about it!” Abby led the students through the door of the lab into a posh living room. Movie posters lined the walls in gilded frames and over the mantle place was a larger than life painting of Daisy Adair. Lying across a chaise lounge in front of the fireplace was Daisy’s body, a bloody Oscar statuette nearby.

I see dead people!
This is probably the prettiest dead person layout in the forensic class yet. Daisy is very artfully arranged on the chaise lounge and the only clue that she’s not just sleeping is the pool of blood beneath her blond hair.

[Daisy’s not really dead so normal playing rules apply, please don’t do anything to the character without checking with the player first.]

It's only natural, really, that Daisy is looking that good for a dead person. She's considered it her job to look good as a dead person for the last seventy years.

She's quite ready to play the part for the students, today.

Once Mac had given the crime scene a quick once over, she made her way over to Daisy and looked at her for a moment.

"Any chance you could tell me all about your death?" she asked as she pulled the cap off her pen ready to write.

"Well, I was traveling down this tunnel, right? And there was this really bright light at the end, and these voices calling my name. . . ."

Mac looked up from her worksheet at that. "Really?" She'd always wondered just how realistic Abby's simulations were.

"Hi Professor," Lana said politely. "Thanks for helping us out today. So... um... Time and cause of death? Any other injuries? And, let's see, murder weapon and how tall are you?"

"Well, aren't you a professional." Daisy smiled. "Okay, in order: you're welcome, 9:00 pm last night and getting smacked on the head, no other injuries, Oscar statuette and five foot six and a half inches."

"What did you get the Oscar for?" Parker asked, curious to hear what Daisy would say. "And also? Great hair."

"It's all about finding the right conditioner," Daisy advised. "And the Oscar was for my brilliant performance as Helen of Troy in that docu-drama, of course."

"Ahh. The nails are nice too." Parker took notes, then shook her head. "So, I don't see any other injuries aside from the whack on the head-- anything that's not obvious there? And who played Paris?"

"Hi. I bet you've already been through a couple rounds of this, but I still gotta ask; time of death, cause of death, all that jazz."

She looked over at the blood-covered Oscar statue. "Oh, what did you win the award for?"

"Right then, I died at 9:00 pm last night, blow to the head, no other injuries, I'm five foot six inches, and I got the Oscar for my performance as Helen of Troy, of course. You can borrow it if you like."
