Superheroing- Tuesday, April 10- 2nd period

When the class gets in today, Captain Liberty doesn't waste any time in things like, you know, waiting for them to sit down or anything. "Inevitably, when you start getting out into the superhero business, you have to deal with people. Namely other people. Teammates. Sidekicks. They're a natural part of the whole thing. Sometimes it works out well, and sometimes you end up looking back on things and wondering what happened to your life and how you ended up with these people."

Realizing belatedly that that might sound bad, Captain Liberty perks up and says, "But sometimes it's kind of cool. So today you're going to put together your own crack team. Which is not necessarily a team on crack. Find a partner. Talk for a little bit about what it is the other person has to offer and how they can help you. Figure out how you can get the teamwork going. Then find another person to talk to about the same thing. If you and the first person know you want to work together and want another teammate, talk to the next person togegther.

"By the end of class, report back to me with one or two people in your team. Don't just pick your friends. That's lame and boring. If groups are uneven, I'll pair you together, or I'll work with someone. Next week you're going to be in the Danger Shop- remember, costumes- and fighting off a bad guy in these teams you pick, so make it a good group. Any questions? Then happy networking."

"And/or teammate," Peter replied with a smile. "Don't suppose you happen to be in the same boat?"

"As a matter of fact, I am." Miley nodded. "So how do we do this? Talk about our strengths and weakness? See if our signs are compatible? Make sure our costumes don't clash?"

"I copy the powers of whoever I'm next to and I make a great cup of coffee," Peter offered. "How about you?"

"I have a really cute southern accent and I can scream loudly." Miley replied. "Not like superhero-loud, just 'eek a spider' loud."

"Very useful power," Peter said. "We could put you in charge of organizing. If somebody on our team needed to be somewhere during a fight, you could make sure they heard the instructions."

"Oh! I can also shop!" Miley grinned. "If we ever needed clothes or shoes...I'm your girl."

"So if our costumes didn't match, you could fix that," Peter said.

"Exactly." Miley nodded. "Which is important because if you need to get close to people to copy their powers, you should really look good."

"You could help me with your Southern charm," Peter said. "That way we could get close to the bad guy, I copy his powers, and use them to neutralize him somehow."

"I can ask him some leading questions before you copy the powers." Miley said. "Just in case his powers are something gross like explosive snot or fiery farts. Because then we might want to call in another superpower team to take over."

"Ew, yeah," Peter said. "Good call. I'd definitely want warning about that. As would you, I'm guessing."

"Yeah." Miley nodded. "So does that happen to you sometimes? Getting a power without knowing what it is at first?"

"It's how I figured out I had powers in the first place," Peter said. "I thought I was going crazy. Turns out I was wrong. Lucky for me."

"You don't like it?"

"Oh no, I do," Peter said. "I had this feeling like I was meant to be something special. That's why I came to Fandom in the first place. But some folks back home thought I was losing my mind. So when I started copying powers without knowing it, I thought they might be right."

"Yay for you not being nuts!" Miley shook her head. "Have you gone back to where you're from to tell them that you're not not crazy?"

"I sent my brother Nathan a 'told you so' bouquet," Peter replied with a grin.

"That rocks." Miley laughed.

"I'm the younger brother," Peter said. "It's my job to make sure he doesn't get too cocky."

"I have the same job with my big brother." Miley nodded. "It's little sibling law to take them down a peg or two."

"Exactly!" Peter said, glad she understood. "They get to do things first and be extremely type-A, we get to make sure nobody forgets when they slept with a stuffed animal."

"Or to always show wee naked butt pictures to whoever they're dating." Miley nodded. "Bonus points if the picture has them sucking their thumb at the same time."

"Nathan's got the edge with that," Peter said. "He plans ahead like you wouldn't believe."

"He sounds way worse than Jackson." Miley grinned. "He describes himself as more of a lover than a thinker."

"I didn't have the heart to tell him that the lyrics were actually 'fighter'."

Peter snickered. "Could've been worse? Could've described himself as a pullover?"
