When the students filed into the Danger Shop this morning, they'd notice Fraser standing at attention near the front of the room. The names of those with detention were neatly displayed in plain view.

"Good morning everyone," Fraser said, smiling pleasantly. "I trust you all had a fine Friday, slept well and are prepared for your detention this morning. Some of you may know me, some of you may not. I'm Constable Benton Fraser, head of school security here. If this is our first meeting, I wish it could be under better circumstances."

He paused to take his hat off and drop it on a desk. "For today's detention, we're going to have a little adventure. This adventure will be non violent and, should you try anything violent, you will have to deal with me. I'll be guiding your progress and controlling the adventure. Your goal is to retrieve the treasure from the castle and unleash it's many wonders. Good luck."

Fraser stepped back and the Danger Shop suddenly became a large, open meadow.

[Basically, this is Choose Your Own Adventure. I'll start out with a setting and some minor directions and the students can go from there. Familiar characters might pop up along the way. But, please, no violence. I'll be around all day most likely.]

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

"Thanks," Seely said, taking the bag of corn chips. "I'll just be headed over there now. Catch you later."

Then he started walking towards the forest again.

The forest was made up of tall trees, random animal noises and dirt. Seely could enter or turn back.

Seely entered.

The light from the sunshine was immediately blotted out. The wind seemed to cease, leaving the forest in an eerie silence.

There were two paths in front of Seely. One was clean, well kept up and the other one was covered in branches and rocks.

Seely studied both paths. "Ah, this is one of this trick question thingies," he said, then took the branch covered path..

Of course, taking the messy path would be a mistake. From above, a bird let loose it's dinner towards Seely's head.

Seely ducked backwards. "Okay, okay, I get the point."

He headed for the clean path instead.

The clean path was a much better choice save for the giant mud puddle in the middle of the path. It was wide enough to jump over or just walk around.

Seely leapt over the puddle.

The leap over the puddle was successful...for the most part. If Seely looked behind him, he could find someone climbing out of the mud puddle but looking pristine.

Seely blinked. "Hey there?"

The person's vision became clearer and he glided over to Seely. It was then that the forest opened up, shining sunlight onto him.

He didn't appear dangerous but appearances can be deceiving.

"Dean Tick?"

"That is not my name.
I'm sorry that you came!

Please leave now!
Before I give you an ow!"

"You wouldn't happen to be the guardian of the forest by any chance?"

Yes, yes, yes I am!
And and and I like spam!"

Seely pulled out the bag of corn chips. "Corn chip?"

His eyes lit up.

You brought me corn chips?
For those, I will give you a thousand ships!

Seely handed the corn chips over. "Knock yourself out, big guy."

He took the corn chips and started eating them happily.

For this, I thank you!
The last time I had these was in a zoo!

Tell me what you'd like!
New shoes, new tools a new bike?

"The fairy said something about a way into the castle?" Seely said. "Also if you could point me in the direction of the earwax funnel?"

Like magic, the ear wax funnel appeared before Seely in a breeze of light.

To enter the castle, you must do this!
Take the feather, tickle the guard, send him into bliss!

"Thanks," Seely replied. "Guess I see you around then."

He started back out of the forest.

The forest guardian waved.

And another bird flew over Seely and dried to hit him again.

Grumbling under his breath, Seely headed for the river.
