Before the assembly, The Tick used the same mysterious process that chooses students for the detention lottery for another purpose.

He had written a play. Destiny told him that all the world was a stage and he was but a player, meaning that he was playing the part of someone that got people to play parts that he created. It was very meta.

Anyway, the curtains opened to start the assembly. It was time for The Tick's first play: A Time for Bagpipes.

[OOC: Cast, please handwave getting roped into this as a result of the announcements this morning. It may be a good idea to look at the plottery post to see what I told different people just so you can be better prepared.

Again, I'm very sorry about the last minuteness and the general WTFery of this. Feel free to go nuts, though. This is a play by The Tick that you had at best a couple hours to look over. Things need not make sense have fun. And thank you for volunteering and attempting to make this work!

Oh, and people in the later acts, don't feel obliged to wait for people in earlier acts. Jump in whenever.]

During a quiet afternoon, two siblings meet a troll who is angered when he sees bagpipes that he lost in a garage sale. A confrontation occurs. The bagpipes are broken.

Near a farm, we catch up with Diego's true love, Serendipity, who has monkeypox. Only a song performed by her true love on his bagpipes can cure her. Also, the sheriff hunts a monkey.

Diego returns to his true love with his broken bagpipes only to find that she has changed. He travels to meet old friends who, as it turns out, may be able to fix his bagpipe problem. Also, the King of England appears and conducts a wedding.

John was there. In costume. It was very dusty, and the sneezing wasn't theatrical.

Naomi was trying hard not to freak out about this. She wasn't really succeeding.

Seely was there in his ~~frog~~ troll costume.

"Naomers! Hey, how's it going?" Yes. He's wearing a monkey suit.

Peter stared at his notes and tried not to boggle too much.

Peter felt himself get shoved out onto the stage. In his hands he had the prop bagpipes and an index card of notes he'd cribbed so that he had a shot in hell of remembering his lines. Or, yanno, what his name was supposed to be.

He stared out at the audience then figured he might as well go for it.

"Oh - " he checked his notes " - Francesca, my sister, how glad I, Diego, am to have found this set of bagpipes at a garage sale. How fortunate for me, and my love - " note check " - Serendipity. Who is possibly a stripper given the name that she has. But she is my love no matter what her job! And this is why I am very lucky that a local Scotsman was clearing out space for... uh, sheep farming."

"Yo, dude. Nice costume!"

Naomi stared and blinked, "um...I'm okay," she managed to say.

He grinned and started picking fake nits out of her hair. "Just okay?"

Naomi was attempting to juggle, and failing miserably at it, "yes, Diego, my brother...it is wonderful that you came across this set of bagpipes. I'm very happy for you and Serendipity," Naomi tried to juggle again but still failed.

"Um...yes?"

He makes goofy monkey noises at her. "Just okay?" He's in a monkey suit with ginormous ears. Acting like an ape. ....he couldn't be enjoying this.

"I'm slightly nervous," Naomi admitted, actually she was very nervous but she wasn't admitting that.

"Who knew Scotsmen liked garage sales?" Peter asked. He tried to stay out of the way of the flying balls... not dirty. "That was a bit of luck. Be a shame for Serendipity if we'd hit the Mexican tag sale and got a guitar instead. Not that there's anything wrong with guitars."

Annette showed up and started going through the costumes. She picked a pretty long flowing gown that amusingly fit her perfectly.

Grabbing her script, she started to read it. "Monkeypox? Crap."
