Revolutions: Week 12, Period 5

The class had been handwavily notified to meet in the Danger Shop, and that was where they found Aly who was looking slightly gleeful as she made sure the final settings were correct.  Once everyone had come in, she turned to clasp her hands in front of her and greet the students.

"Good day, everyone.  Today we are talking, again, about explosions.  A few classes ago we talked about pipe bombs and molotov cocktails which are both nice bombs, but they're a bit sloppy.  They're street weapons more than tactical weapons, and they can't necessarily be directed towards strategic goals."  She grinned at Sam if she was present.  "As some of you noted then."

"This isn't to say that there isn't a place for that type of weapon.  In a revolution, you use any weapon you can get your hands upon.  But unless you're planning on simply erecting barricades in the streets and never moving beyond that - and that rarely works as an overall strategy - you're going to have to move to a more strategic outlook."

"We did this twice while fighting in the Copper Isles.  The first time," a shadow and then a look of triumph crossed Aly's face quickly, "we destroyed the Rajmuat slave docks.  It was a message to the King and to his Spymaster.  That they couldn't stop us and they couldn't continue to profit off the labour of slaves.  The second time, the capital's armory was blown up to distract the soldiers for a bit while we set up for the endgame.  I planned both attacks though, sadly, I had other responsibilities so couldn't plant the charges on the armory."  She smirked.  "That and I might possibly have been in trouble still for going on the slave harbor raid."

"What I've done today is separate you up into groups and given you a structure to decide how to destroy.  We're not focusing on the actuality of the explosives this time.  Let's assume that you have an co-conspirator who can handle the making of the bombs.  What I want you to do is decide where to place them and discuss the possible problems with destroying these bridges and forts and the possible issues that may arise while attacking them."

"If you have someone in your group who has the magic to deal with the situation, that's fine.  You can use that, but I'd like you also to look at the problem without magic."

"After you've made your plan, the Danger Shop has all these structures programmed in.  You can choose where to want to place your devices and see how big an explosion you can make."

"Questions?  Ideas?  Worries?"

[OOC: Please wait for OCD with groups is up!]

"Unless we want to get rid of the tactical advantage completely," Sam said, walking over to set the first charge, "In which case we need to analyze the structure--which we did--to figure out how to destroy the entire building."

"I'm all for maximum damage," Isabel said, setting the next charge. "Because otherwise you're just going to have to make another trip back."

Sam nodded in approval as she watched Isabel. "Yep. And you never want to do that--all it does is give you another chance to mess up or get captured."

"Yeah, and that would be bad," she muttered, not looking at Sam.

Ah. So, captured. "Here, have a charge and a detonator," she offered.

Isabel took them with a wry smile. "Therapy?"

"You'd be amazed how much better you feel after blowing stuff up," Sam told her with the ease of long experience.

"Well let's find out," she said, setting the charges in place.

"You want to push the button?" Sam asked, the height of generosity. Isabel's issues were more recent than hers.

"If you don't mind?" Isabel asked, feeling honored.

"Go for it," she grinned, going to hide behind a grassy knoll so she could watch safely.

"Here goes nothing," she muttered, hitting the button. The sounds of the different charges going off was very satisfying.

Sam watched as the walls of the castle practically exploded, grinning and not caring that her ears were ringing and she was covered in dust. "I feel a little bit better now. How about you?" She shouted.

Isabel grinned, "That was fun. We need to do this more often."

"You should have been here when Tyler and I made explosives. We had way too much fun."
