Detention - The Danger Shop - 03/31

When the students entered the Danger Shop, they found themselves in standing in the middle of a port which, from the view out all of the windows, appeared to be floating in outer space. Men and women alike were milling around, bringing cargo into the building, or taking it outside to the waiting spacecrafts.

Zoe was leaning against a stack of boxes, solemnly cutting an apple into quarters, and checking off everyone's names as they came in.

Once everyone had arrived, she smiled and addressed the group.

"Hi boys. Thanks for coming. I know most of you didn't do much of anything to get here, so I'm grateful that you showed up anyway," she said. "Today, you're going to get some experience in the exciting field of outer space transport. Just to make sure everyone's on the same page, here's how the story starts: as strapping young members of the Independents - those are the good guys, for the record - it's been getting harder and harder for you to find good, paying work without the Alliance - those are the bad guys - looking over your shoulders. Luckily, one of your contacts has told you about a man who needs some cargo...quietly removed from a train, and he's decided that you're the man for the job."

"Sign in, and then go through the main door there," Zoe continued, pointing. "Tell the guard you're here for a meeting with Adelei Niska. Accept the job offer that he gives you, and you'll get the rest of your instructions from there."

After talking to the guard, you're led down a long metallic-colored hallway, and brought to stand in front of a simple, unmarked door.

"Knock once," the guard instructed, "and wait here. Mr. Niska will be with you in a moment."

Seely knocked once.

Then resisted the urge to knock again and run away.

The door slid open to reveal a large, muscular man with a number of tattoos.

He looked Seely up and down and growled.

Seely grinned. "Hey, I'm Booth, here to see old Adelei."

The man growled again, until another voice from behind him cut him off.

"It is all right, Crow. Let him come in," Niska said, in a thick Russian accent. "Welcome, Mr. Booth. Please, come in. Do not mind Crow. He likes to stand at the door and look mean."

"Always good for a man to have hobbies, that's what I say," Seely replied, flashing Crow another grin as he walked into the room. "So, Niska, I'd ask what you want with some big, dumb muscle like myself, since it seems Crow boy here's got that covered."

"Big muscle is not always easy to find," Niska said. "And I do not believe you are dumb, or you would not have come. You are here about the job, yes?"

Dean glanced at Sammy; the two of them had fallen instep without any discussion. "We doing this together?"

"I don't see why not since I don't want to play with myself not dirty," Sam replied. "Whatever Zoe cooked up, it'll probably be easier to do together."

"That's what I was thinking." He raised a hand and knocked.

The door slid open to reveal a large tattooed man, who glared at Dean and Sam, and sniffed, as if appraising them by their smell.

Dean looked up at him and tried a friendly smile. "We're here to see Niska?"

The man made a growling noise, but stepped aside when another voice from inside the room called, "Crow, let them in. They are here for business." When he moved out of the way, Dean and Sam could see the office inside, and the gray-haired man sitting at the desk.

Marco knocked once and rocked back and forth on his heels.

The door slid open when he knocked, revealing a large man with lots of tattoos. He glared at Marco, as if to ask what he dared doing there.

From inside the room came another voice, in a thick Russian accent. "Crow, stop scaring the people at the door! Come in, young man."

Marco followed the guy into the room. "Um, hi."

"Hello, come in," Niska said. "Do not mind Crow. He only looks scary, most of the time. You are here about the job, yes?"

Billy was used to this kind of procedure, code knocks were common in certain circles. He knocked once and waited patiently.

The door slid open, seemingly on its own, to reveal a hulking, tattooed man, who eyed Billy curiously.

"Huh. Thanks," Crow grunted, not used to getting complimented. "You here for Mr. Niska?"

Crow grunted, and nodded for Billy to go inside. There was an older man sitting behind a desk in the room, and he smiled when he saw Billy in the doorway. "Hello, come in, please," he said, in a thick Russian accent.
