El nodded to the class as they entered. “As per usual, today we will be working on playing. You have two options today, depending on whether you write music or not. If you write music, I want you to sit down and start writing a song to perform for your final. If you do not, I want you sit down and start thinking about a song to perform for your final.

Either way, I want you to tell me before you leave what song you’ll be doing or be able to hum at least the chorus for me. I want to discuss your choice with you. Don’t just pick a song because it’s easy, because I will grill you on your choice.”

Bounce ideas of your friends, compose songs to yourself

Nadia was playing around with a bit of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Not easy, but certainly fun.

"Nice choice," Chad commented, as he was fiddling a little with a variation on some of his own stuff he'd been putting together.

"Thanks. I don't think my own stuff is quite ready for El's consideration, yet."

Chad nodded. Just a general consenting gesture, not that he was agreeing that Nadia's stuff wouldn't be up to par. He didn't even realize that it could be interpreted that way, really. He did feel a slight hesitation about his own playing, though.

"...Think I should do someone else, too?"

"That I leave entirely up to you, Chad."

Well, that was helpful. Chad grunted a little, and considered that, yeah, he liked his own stuff and would maybe hope his creativity in the matter would count for something. He went back to concentrating on his mingling of bass lines and Spanish-style guitar.

"If it helps, I think it sounds really cool."

It did help. Chad nodded.

"Good. Gracias."

"De nada"

Prepare for him to make fun of it.

"El Professor? I was thinking I'd try 'Little Wing' by Stevie Ray Vaughan."

I just watched the Jurassic Bark episode of Futurama.

I'm gonna go bawl now.
