Annette got some salad and moved to a table near a window. She bent her head to eat and made sure the collar of her shirt was turned up as high as it would go.

Henry walked over to Annette, and gave her a curious look. That was Annette, right? He craned his head and leaned to the side, trying to see her face.
"Annette? Is that you?"

Oh. She was hoping to go unnoticed today. For the most part at least.

She looked up slowly, not really moving her head much, just her eyes. "Oh, hi, Henry. Yes, it's me."

Henry sat down across from her, looking a little concerned. "Do you have a headache?" He kept his voice at a reasonable level, just in case. It did look to him like she was keeping her head down to avoid light.

"Um, no. Not really." Annette couldn't lie to him either. He was just too nice. She leaned her elbow on the table an sort of rested her hand against her neck, covering that spot. She smiled at him, "How are you today, Henry?"

"My classes are going very well, thank you. I have been studying a good deal lately. What about yours?"

If Annette knew that Henry thought she had been drinking? She would have let him keep that thought instead of admit to the truth.
