Ethics [Monday, March 26, 5th period]

"Last week we started a discussion of the Seven Deadly Sins, beginning with pride, wrath and envy," Anakin said quietly from his seat behind his desk.

He stood up and began pacing. "Today we'll include the other four: gluttony, lust, sloth, and greed. Which one of the seven do you identify most closely with? Do you have a temper?"

He did.

"A history of nursing grudges?"

Yup, that too.

"An insatiable thirst to prove everyone wrong?"

Uh-huh.

He waved his hand towards the class. "Pair up and talk about it."

Irulan scribbled a check in all the sins. My, isn't that a checklist of her families sins?

Katara took notes and then wondered what was so bad about having a temper.

Molly tossed a note over to Katara.

Did I miss anything important last week?

Katara studied the note for a few minutes, lips trying to spell out the words. She looked over at Molly and nodded. "You okay?" she whispered.

"Yeah, I'm fine," Molly said. "I had to go off planet really suddenly on Monday and didn't have time to tell anyone."

Katara reminded herself that even Anakin had said that there really was space out there.

"It was on radio that you left. I'm glad you're alright."

Molly grinned. "I'm fine." She glanced at Anakin. "Talk to you about it after class?"

Katara nodded, following Molly's glance. "Let's go down to town?"

Molly grinned more. "We could go get ice cream."

Wasn't much of a lecture, but that didn't stop Turtle from doodling Anakin in her margins being all "Blah blah blah."

Dean still looked a little beat up, but was determined to get back to normal so he was there, diligently taking notes. If his notes were at least half doodles and snatches of things not covered in class, well that was normal too wasn't it?

Anakin shot Dean a concerned look when he thought it wouldn't be noticed.

Sam was taking notes, and trying to avoid making too much eye contact with people. The fact that he was wearing a hat with ears might have something to do with that.

Anakin blinked at the headwear. "Do I want to know?" he asked in a low voice.

"Forgiveness through public embarrassment," Sam explained. "It was Dean's idea."

Anakin gave him a sympathetic smile. "I had to dress like Zorro for an entire day," he said. "I think you got off easy."

Sam smirked at the thought of Anakin in any kind of costume. "Well, this could very well just be the start. It depends on whether or not Dean thinks this is embarrassing enough."

Anakin pursed his lips. "Probably not," he decided. "But I don't know what you did."

"I kind of tried to rally people against his best friend to get them to agree that he should be thrown out of school," Sam explained sheepishly. "That's why we were fighting in class last week."

John spent most of his time hiding behind his newly splinted hand.

Anakin spent most of the class on the other side of the room reminding himself that trying to kill someone using the power of his mind was Wrong.

He couldn't stop the glare he was sporting.

It wasn't easy to miss the glaring but it was easy to pretend to miss the glaring. So, he kept hiding behind his arm.

Molly watched Anakin carefully, frowning when she saw him glaring at John.

Anakin gave her a slightly ashamed glance.
