Today the Danger shop is set up to resemble a small hedge maze.

Completely and absolutely harmless hedge maze.

Except for the parachuting snakes who are spiting peanuts at everyone.

Today's club meeting would be an exercises which tested each person's skill in snake avoidance.

The goals were simple, use what skills you may to stop the snakes from landing on the ground while avoiding their deadly peanuty weaponry.

Make it to the end of the maze and win a prize.

Chris started through the maze, but when a snake got too close, he ended up orbing to the other end.

"That is an interesting defense. Have you already acquired your Apparition License?" Luna smiled as she asked from where she stood at the end, atop a snake free hill.

Her wand was behind her ear and her hands behind her back because she was holding something. Possibly several somethings. Hopefully it wasn't a bouquet of snakes.

"My what?" Chris asked. "And I can't really control that yet, it's pretty much a fear reflex."

"Apparition (http://www.hp-lexicon.org/magic/spells/spells_a.html#apparition) License. Where some of us are from, to move our bodies from one place to another is called apparating. It requires quite a lot of studying and practise, and in some cases much more." Luna continued to smile. Because she's a Luna and that's what they do. "You are lucky to have it come so easy and not have splinched yourself."

She took her hands from behind her and handed Chris a large scarlet and gold gift-certificate for Wonka's Sweets Shoppe, redeemable anytime ~~even handwavily so~~. Then she oh so helpfully added, "splinch is to do as you did, but not arrive whole."

Chris may have looked concerned as he took the items from Luna. "Um, well, what I did is called orbing and it's a power I inherited from my father. I also have the power of telekinesis, but I really don't have control over either of them yet."

"No worries on the splinching then." She tilted her head to the side, "do you not have a place of learning for such things where you are from?"

She couldn't be like other people and simply ask if he'd gone to a school for magical instruction.

"Nope," Chris said ~~because he doesn't know any better~~. "My grandpa sent me and Wyatt here in hopes that we could learn more about our powers."

"That seems as though it would be... challenging at best." Luna replied.

Chris nodded. "It's definitely been interesting so far. What kind of magic do you do?"

"Any that I can." Luna smiled. "Spells, charms, potions, hexes, jinxes, herbology, transfiguration, defense against the dark arts, ancient runes, arithmancy, astronomy..."

Santa wasn't sure why he was drawn to this location at this time. A faint memory danced at the edges of his mind, but it disappeared when he tried to look at it. But there were children here, so he had a duty to spread Christmas cheer.

"Ho, ho, ho," he said cheerfully, and wandered into the maze.

Oh look! Snnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkkkkke! It's a Snnnnnnnnnnaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkkkke! And it's spitting peanuts at poor, mental Tannim-Santa.

Santa was a patient man, but even he could be annoyed when pelted with peanuts. He glared at the snakes. "Now look here," he said. "If you keep that up, it'll be nothing but coal for you this year."

The snake hissed.

He wasn't sure what the kid was saying to him, but he was sure it wasn't something he would like.

Besides, the parachute cords were starting to bunch up and pinch him just there.

That? Made for a cranky snake traveling by parachute, so he pelted Tannim-Santa with more peanuts.

It made him happy.

"That's it!" Santa said fiercely. "I'm putting you on the bad list!" He pulled a battered notebook from his bag and scribbled 'Bad - Parachuting Snakes' on the first page. He didn't seem to notice that there was already writing on that page.
