Dead zombies litter the ground (at the library -- yes, still)

The first wave seems to have subsided. Methos lowers his sword so the tip is touching the ground. Bloody streaks down the outside of his sweater.

Small puddles of flame flare here and there mark charred zombie bodies.

"You found a weapon you could use, instead of something that you couldn't, and you did something with it." Janet smiled at Chloe. "And you didn't break down when the zombies came in. I call that doing good."

That gets a full laugh from Chloe. "I think I broke down there for a few seconds. But, yeah, I guess you've got a point." She looks at Janet. "Thanks."

"You're welcome," says Janet. "Talk about weird. I've seen a lot, but I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this."

"Me neither. God, I thought I came from the weirdest place in the world, but everything here just keeps topping it. If something out there is trying to send me a message, they really can stop, because I've gotten the point," Chloe says, shaking her head.

"I think we all came from the weirdest place in every world," says Janet. "Most of us, anyway. But this place is still weirder, you're right." Janet sighs and finishes the last of her--ick--zombie samples. The bag squishes slighly as she puts it behind the desk with the others. "So what's the message being sent, do you think?"

Chloe makes another face as the bag starts squishing. "Maybe that we should all have more respect for where we came from, because no matter how bad things might have been there, they could always be worse?"

[janet_fraiser]

"Not a bad idea," says Janet. She drapes something over her sample bags to hide them from view and peels zombie-covered latex gloves off her hands. "Ick. Want to be there's a run on hot water as we all take showers when this is done?"

"I didn't even think of that, but I bet there will be. Here's hoping the school is equipped for emergency cleaning situations."
