Dead zombies litter the ground (at the library -- yes, still)

The first wave seems to have subsided. Methos lowers his sword so the tip is touching the ground. Bloody streaks down the outside of his sweater.

Small puddles of flame flare here and there mark charred zombie bodies.

Edward laughed for a moment, quietly. "I've been through longer nights than this, that's for sure. With my brother..." he became quiet.

Then he shook his head. "Our expedition went pretty well, actually. We've got a decent stock of blankets and pillows, and lots of snack food." He smiled. "We raided the second floor common room and commandeered all of River's snacks from the party-that-never-was."

Shifting again, Sakura laced her fingers together and set them atop her knees, resting her chin on the backs of her fingers and watching him as he talked. Her eyebrows knit together momentarily when he fell quiet. Obviously his brother was somewhat of a sore subject. She grinned a bit when he mentioned comandeering River's snackfood.

"Well that's good," she swivelled her head to look ahead. "Though I must say, kicking a bunch of zombie's in the butt was a lot more exciting than learning about the eighties."

Feeling it was no longer needed, she recalled her staff again and put it around her neck, slipping it under the neck of her shirt.

[OOC: Jeebus, they work you dry, don't they? o__O; I think I would die. Well, sleep when you want... knowing me, I'll be up for another couple hours 'cause I bleeding slept all day. x__x Holy crap I suck at HTML. I have nooo clue how to make font smaller. XD]

"I would assume so, since I don't think the eighties were all that exciting to begin with. Not that I know anything about it." Edward leaned forward and grabbed one of the bags, rooting around in it for something to eat. Now that he had a chance to sit for more than a second, he was ravenously hungry.

"I saw a bunch of people over in the dorm, no zombies have made it inside over there. Which is, obviously, a good thing." He pulled a bag of chips out and opened them. "Um ... want some?"

Leaning her shoulderblades against the wall, Sakura raised her eyebrows at Ed. She laughed softly, shaking her head.

"Yeah, I don't know anything about the eighties either. All I know is it seems to have been a fashion statement to have big scary hair." She gestured around her head, pulling the scruffy hair framing her face out and puffing it. The end result looked somewhat like a pomeranian put through a car wash. She laughed at her own ridiculousness, then nodded at him.

"It's good that everyone else seems to be safe..." She tilted her head at the bag of chips and shot him an odd look, as if to say 'You just killed a slew of zombies, and you're thinking about food??', and shook her head. "No thanks."

Edward laughed at her new, extra-poofy hairdo. "Now that's quite a look for you. Who on earth thought that looked good?" He shuddered, remembering the fashions from that horrid book earlier. "Gah. What were these people on, to think that stuff looked good? Maybe it was a mass hallucination."

He tucked into the bag of chips like he hadn't eaten in a week. "Man, defending this place leaves ya hungry," he complained, crunching several chips. "Which reminds me. Those stupid books in the cage can apparently eat things. I probably should think about regularly feeding them."

[identity profile] sakuracchyan.livejournal.com 2005-09-24 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
Sakura stifled her laughter behind a hand, smoothing her hair back down to the best of her ability.

"I don't know," she managed between giggles -- something about this conversation had infected her with laughing gas, or something. "But it must have been something crazy, to make them come up with something like that. That guy who teaches the magic class... Jareth? His hair terrifies Kero."

She couldn't help but grin at Ed's eating habits. She really didn't care all that much -- Yukito ate enough for four people, so wolfing down a bag of chips was like watching him eat half an appetizer. Still, she curled her nose up a bit. "I probably won't eat anything until we get back out to the dorms... the fact that there's a bunch of undead zombie corpses in the doorway kind of keeps my appetite away." She stuck her tongue out in a gesture of 'blehh'.

She stared at him a moment when he mentioned the books, having nearly forgotten about them in all the commotion. "Oh!" Again, she was attacked with a fit of giggles. "What did you do to them, anyway? Now they're like rabid pets!"

[identity profile] alchemic-bean.livejournal.com 2005-09-24 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
Edward was actually polite enough for once to wait until he'd swallowed his mouthful to speak. "I haven't seen that Jareth guy, but I'd heard his name before," he said, then raised an eyebrow. "I haven't heard of Kero before, though. He a student too?"

He emptied the bag into his mouth, then crumpled it. "Gotta eat to keep your energy up, though. This is probably far from over ... there were still some zombies wandering around campus. Unless Rover gets them in the night, we'll probably have to deal with them tomorrow." He thought for a second. "Maybe the sun will fry'em?" Then he shrugged. "Gimme chimeras, or golems... hell, even homunculi I can deal with. Never fought zombies before."

"Augh, those stupid books." He rolled his eyes. "The stupid array malfunctioned, or some rampant magic interferred with the alchemic energy. My array was supposed to act like a copy machine, and instead it brought those maniac beasts to life." Edward sighed. "Well, Al would be having a fine laugh if he heard about that. I'm the one who always tells him 'no pets.'"

[identity profile] sakuracchyan.livejournal.com 2005-09-24 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
Sakura sighed, shaking her head. "You're lucky. Jareth's kind of scary." She shifted, sitting on her knees. "Ah, no. Kero's... erm, my pet, sort of..." She made a face, trying to think of a simple way to explain him. "He helps me with my magic." She figured that summed it up well enough, and she was almost positive Edward didn't need -- or want, for that matter -- to hear the whole story.

Making a sort of :\ face, she nodded. She hadn't thought about any other zombies around other areas of the campus. She tilted her head a little, smiling when he suggested the sun may fry the remaining zombies. "We should be so lucky." One eyebrow raised toward her hairline when he named off varying beasts he would prefer over zombies. "...Homunculi?" she echoed, mouth forming into a tiny upside-down "v" shape.

She brought a hand up to rest her chin on, listening intently to his explination. She blinked, narrowing her eyes a little. "Al?"

"'A pet who helps with your magic,'" Edward repeated thoughtfully. "At some point you're going to have to explain to me how that works. Well, the magic bit." He yawned a little bit and started fiddling with the bags, until he found his coat, shoved between two bedsheets.

He flipped the heavy red material over his legs like a blanket. "Hm, homunculi." He tried to think up a good, if simple explanation. There was no need to explain about human transmutation, not now. "They're... false humans," he said after a long moment. "Kind of like golems, but... more malevolent. And persistant. And a hell of a lot harder to kill."

Edward nodded to himself, for a moment. "Alphonse is my little brother," he said. "He has this habit of picking up stray cats. He can't turn an animal down, the big softie." He yawned slightly, starting to nod off where he sat. "I miss having him around," he said softly, staring at his hands in his lap.

[identity profile] sakuracchyan.livejournal.com 2005-09-24 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
Sakura paused a moment to think about what she'd said. She supposed that having a 'pet' help you with your magic did sound pretty funny... "Sure thing," she quipped, finding herself quite happy to have a topic of conversation for some later point in time. She yawned not three seconds after he did, and scowled at him. "Don't do that." She scolded jokingly.

She folded her arms across her chest, curling her knees to her chest again and leaning forward on them a little. Squinting, she nodded. "False humans, but more of a pain in the butt. Okay..." She summed it up to an immortal, malicious version of the Mirror card in her head.

Sakura grinned almost instantly when Ed mentioned his little brother. "That's so cute," she replied, then leaned to the side a little to nudge him with her elbow. "You better be nice to him -- I know what it's like to be the little sibling, and you never know when we're gonna get you back for teasing." Almost as quickly as it had appeared, her grin faded, not understanding what he meant when he mentioned missing his brother. She tilted her head a moment, then gasped when she jumped to the wrong conclusion about his brother. She clapped her hands over her mouth, eyes going wide for a moment. "I'm sorry!" She squeaked, feeling she'd said too much.

[identity profile] alchemic-bean.livejournal.com 2005-09-24 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
Edward stared at her in confusion. "Sorry? About what? I'll see him again sometime soon, this is just the longest we've been apart. Since I've been, like..." He thought for a moment. "Okay, ever." He looked faintly amused. "And I don't have to worry about the teasing bit, Al completely holds his own. He's been known to ..." Edward paused, then scowled. "Well, he hung me outside our third-floor window by my ankles once 'cause he was mad at me."

Edward yawned again. "Mmrgh. Sorry, though, but I think I need to catch a nap or something. It's been a very long night."

[identity profile] sakuracchyan.livejournal.com 2005-09-24 09:52 am (UTC)(link)
As he finished his sentence, Sakura sighed, sagging visibly. "I misunderstood," she said, smiling. At the mental image of Edward being hung outside a window by his ankles, she promptly started giggling again. "Sounds like he has you under control, then."

When he mentioned needing sleep, she nodded, and sat forward on her hands and knees, crawling around to the other side of the pile of bags and bedding. She pulled a sheet loose and tossed it at him, then pulled another and coiled into it, leaning on one of the bags and closing her eyes.
