Creative Writing, Period 6 3/14

Yuki paces the front of the room a bit impatiently. He seems distracted as usual. “Well since I can tell you’re all thrilled to death about your stories and are clearly working very hard to stay on top of your work, I’m giving you a bit of a change of pace today. You’re going to write poetry.”

“Now at this age I expect you’d all be at least slightly familiar with poetry. It’s good for expressing yourself much more concisely than a novel or short story. Poems can rhyme or have special form, certain rhyme patterns, certain numbers of syllables and lines. It doesn’t really matter what kind of poem you write today, just turn in one by the end of the period.”

“Oh and if you need some examples, here’s two that don’t rhyme and two that do: On Turning Ten, Picnic, Lightning, Shall I Compare Thee To a Summer’s Day?, and Dream Deferred. I don’t care if you talk but I better have a poem from all of you by the time class ends.”

((OOC: Oh the week before Spring Break is such a joy... Billy Collins makes it better I supose.))

Jude was trying to write a villainelle.

It was hard to find things that rhyme with 'skateboard'.
