Gun Club, noon

It wasn't like there was a lot to do outside anyway. So Parker posted the rules, and opened up the range.

SAFETY RULES:

· TREAT ALL GUNS AS IF THEY WERE LOADED

· KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL READY TO FIRE

· BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT’S BEYOND

· ALWAYS WEAR HEARING AND EYE PROTECTION

· NEVER USE ALCOHOL OR DRUGS BEFORE OR WHILE SHOOTING.

· CHECK IN ALL WEAPONS BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE RANGE.

Nadia had a new gun and sleeve delivery system to play practice with, so once she got the delivery system set up right and the gun in place, she started practicing launching the gun into her hand and firing.

By the end of an hour she almost had it down smoothly and had not yet managed to blow her own hand off. Score!

When Nadia took a break, Parker approached her and said, "Okay, I have to ask. Where did you get the shiny tiny sneaky gun?"

"Ahh. Happy late birthday, by the way. Sorry I didn't even get you a card." Parker smiled at the shiny shiny gun, and said enviously, "I now have an urge to go order one from Tex. Is the aim good?"

"I'm still getting used to it, but yeah." Nadia shrugged. "And don't worry about it. It's probably not even really my birthday, anyway."

"It isn't?" Parker frowned, trying to remember why that was, then nodded as she remembered about Nadia's Russian mom and not knowing her father. "Oh, right. With you growing up without knowing your real parents. They didn't leave any records, to let you know when it was, I take it."

Nadia nodded. "That would be it, yeah. The people at the orphanage just assigned me one. It's no big deal."

"Even so. I owe you a birthday drink." She sobered a moment. "And a thank you drink. That idea you had a month or so ago really panned out. So, alcohol in whatever measure you wish."
